Living in a sober living/recovery house, ask me anything
Rent is cheap, I can make enough to pay it by picking up other tenants chores...the people that are here are mostly degenerates, I'm here as a way to avoid parole throwing me back in prison... (Very long story, political motives involved)

I'm on a gps monitor, and being here has already saved me once from false alarms (malfunctioning device)

In the process of transferring my parole to another state..

Ask away :)

It's very strange and a bit culty. The people that run the place, own several ventures in various industry in the area, and use the house as a type of free/cheap labor force...

There's a sort of group of "inner circle," tenants who actively try to keep people from moving on/finding a place of their own...that's the cultish part I was talking about..

One of the people involved in the place is the mayor of a small town nearby, and also run a church...a weird church, pentacostal..... Growing up in a nearby area I used to run around with this mayor/preacher's stepdaughter, and 2 of her cousins..all beautiful girls...one committed suicide later...I don't know the details, drug use involved though..

I was from about 2005 to 2015, opioids, over the last 2 years of it I pretty much got clean with methadone and then suboxone...and got all the way clean with a state jail sentence (credit card fraud)..

After that I never went back to opiates, but picked up a xanax habit...another prison sentence ended that abruptly..and left me with a long parole sentence...after that I didn't go back to benzos, but was starting to drink too much...

Re: Living in a sober living/recovery house, ask me anything
As bad as I’m sure the prison time was, it sounds like it’s saved you more than once. You sound pragmatic about your situation, so you might be the kind who better manages addiction by understanding the hard science of the issue. Particularly how the limbic system is affected, and more importantly, how long it takes to get it back to normal parameters. It does take awhile, but once you achieve that, you’re really you again when it comes to coping with life. We actually were able to handle things back when our brains were normal...we just don’t remember what that was like after awhile. There’s lots of videos and books on this subject.

I know that wasn’t a question. How’s the food?

Best of luck to you.

No questions.

Just best of luck.

Over nine years sober here.

It's a better way of life for us. I used to get in a little trouble myself.

What kind of slave labor do they force you to do?

Is there any future for you?

How was your childhood?

Did you fail in school?

Were you an outcast of society?

Which part of the USSA are you living in...North. South, East or West?

I'll guess the South. Am I right? :charlie?

6 months, I'm 2 months into it... I have already been reformed...I slipped a little and got a misdemeanor public intox (drunk and yelling about politics)

And parole nearly revoked me... With a lawyer I was able to get by with just an ankle monitor for 60 days.. voluntarily came here to try to put some time and a layer of protection between my little mishap...also counts as required therapy, and aa/na meetings.

How much time did you spend in the Pen?

How many stints did you do in The Pen? 1, and 1 in state jail.. state jail was 6 months, pen was 3y4m

Were you in Juve? No, was never in juvie

What made you Break Bad? prescription drug use (legitimately prescribed)

What kind of slave labor do they force you to do? They have a petro polymer pipe production operation, gas stations, and a used appliance sales/distro operation

Is there any future for you? who knows?

How was your childhood? good, i came from a upper/middle class family, grew up in country club, both parents have college degrees, i have college certs (am close to finishing my associates)

Did you fail in school? no, was a B student, but took dual credit courses and went to community college to gain IT certifications right after high school, got into drugs, went back to college, went through a terrible breakup (quit school), got worse into drugs, went back, had health problems (quit school again) got worse into drugs (went to prison) .... went to school 2 more semesters after prison... got in trouble with parole (missed a semester while in jail waiting for parole to make a decision). back out now, and enrolled already in summer semester (18 credits left to graduate)

Were you an outcast of society? in high school/after high school i was popular and had high hopes... at some point i developed a serious fear/anxiety of public/other people... this was the root cause of my drug use... everything spiraled.. prison was something i didn't think i would ever experience.. i wasn't a "bad" person.. the crime that got me all the prison time was a sort of Tiger Woods esque type crime...blacked out on xanax, stumbled across the street into a neighbors garage... got in a vehicle, in the garage.

Which part of the USSA are you living in...North. South, East or West?

I'll guess the South. Am I right? :charlie? yes, the south. where pot is still a crime, and you will go to jail for any amount.

XanaX Is of the devil.

You are right, doctors prescribe it without giving the patient informed consent. Those kinds of doctors should be sent to prison.

How long were you on XanaX? What dosage? What strength?

i really dont have any contact with him, a lot of the people that live here go to church at his church, and i haven't heard anything too weird about it beside that it's a pentacostal/speaking in tongues type church.. i haven't went and seen it yet personally (ankle monitor keeps me homebound right now, besides the 3 days a week im allowed to go and work at the used appliance sales store)

these ARE some weird people though. Or maybe just different than what i'm used to. I grew up in a community of golfers, where things like education/community standing were what was important and defined a person... these people are redneck types, boots and beat up chevys, where education stopped at the 5th grade. The guys who actually run the place are military veterans though, but still of the redneck variety..

sure, ask away...

was on xanax for about 10 years, near the end it was 2mg x3 times daily, but i knew how to manipulate the doctors and pharmacy to pretty much never run out.. (pharmacys will fill sched 3 meds 6 days early, and most doctors will refill 4-6x with one visit after you've been going to them long enough) also, there are benzos available online that are unscheduled and ship right to your address (flualprazolam, clonazalam)

at the worst of my xanax nightmare i was taking 8 or 10mg daily..

Yes, and he was a good dad, coached my little league teams growing up..was an alcoholic/drug user though...no abuse..made good money..he and mom split up during my high school years, it did have an effect on me..but nothing I can say I could blame him for...mom was/is overbearing/controlling..she was responsible for arranging and urging me to come here...I was staying in a rent property she owns, since after I got out of prison, little over a year ago...she has the best intentions, but I was kind of a failure to launch situation I guess you'd say.. after me and the mother of my kids split (I have two, they live in the northwest, and come back here during the summers to stay with grandma (my mom))..this last summer we reunited, since I hadn't seen them in a few years while I was in prison) it went very well, we had a great summer together..

I grew up in a community of golfers, where things like education/community standing were what was important and defined a person... these people are redneck types, boots and beat up chevys, where education stopped at the 5th grade. The guys who actually run the place are military veterans though, but still of the redneck variety..

Well, there are a lot of preachers who are of the devil.

Your main concern should be the eternal destination of your soul. If you thought prison was bad...hell will be much, much worse.

How's the food? Does the preacher feed you good food?

the food is actually awesome, there's 1 meal cooked daily (stuff like tacos, sometimes breakfast, sometimes fried chicken)

there are lots of restaurants that donate to the place, and there is a "snack room" stocked with frozen stuff, like hot pockets, etc..

the preacher guy doesn't really come around the actual house much, i just connected the dots because i had known his stepdaughter in my younger years, and when i go to work at the appliance store the older veteran guy that is in charge of it takes us to eat in a restaurant the preacher/mayor guy also owns.

What's a typical day like for for you...your routine,etc.

I suppose your parents think you are scum. Is that correct?

I'll have more questions.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75412842

Typical day is, get up around 8am.. required meeting at 9.., then another at 9...then sit around/complete chores until another required meeting at 730p..then bedtime at 11p

No one allowed in there rooms from 9am until 3pm..if you aren't on an ankle monitor you can leave, but must take another member of the house along with you.. must be at the 9am meeting, and attend 1 other meeting daily.

One cardinal rule:

DO NOT have sex or get into a relationship with ANYONE

Just avoid all advances and flirtations

Worst thing you can do

XanaX Is of the devil.

You are right, doctors prescribe it without giving the patient informed consent. Those kinds of doctors should be sent to prison.

How long were you on XanaX? What dosage? What strength?

I have more questions...if you are willing.

sure, ask away...

was on xanax for about 10 years, near the end it was 2mg x3 times daily, but i knew how to manipulate the doctors and pharmacy to pretty much never run out..

MAN, YOU WERE ON THAT SHIT AT THAT KIND OF DOSE? stoned

I'M SURPRISED THE WITHDRAWALS DIDN'T KILL YOUR ASS!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75412842

I had some pretty horrible withdrawals, the worst was in county jail, was on suboxone, which ran out after about a five day fast taper, and nothing at all for the xanax withdrawal, also had been drinking regularly at the time, but not heavily as far as alcoholic drinking goes (4-6 drinks daily)... But after about 5 days of the benzos and drinking halting I went through full on delerium, hallucinations, thought the world was ending, thought I was in an actual hell realm...it was absolutely terrifying..

How often do you get your mud pushed?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75412842

Rape is not really an issue here..in prison well, it was prison.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80151524

What do you mean is "not really" an issue? Does this mean there's like an occasional rape? One of the head honchos try to get dudes to yank one out with him over Christmas liquor even though he's "not gay"?

"in prison well, it was prison" is also interesting.

Does this imply regular oral/anal rape?

Is it all raw/no protection/no lube, dudes just raping other dudes and potentially infecting them with sickening diseases?
