$26 million California lottery ticket may have been destroyed in wash
A $26 million lottery ticket was sold in Norwalk, California about six months ago. Regulars and workers at the gas station that sold the ticket believe it was accidentally destroyed in the wash by a woman whose coworker bought it for her.

It is funny that the lottery will go to all depths with all cameras from every angle and even audio to prove that someone cheated the lottery. They will just laugh at you if you claim you won but lost the ticket.

I smell bullshit. So a co-worker bought the ticket, but she is seen on camera buying it herself?

I'd love to see the real winner come forward and expose these two as con artists.

Breakage. The state keeps all breakage.

It's called "escheat".

Yes, the word cheat is right inside escheat.

Exactly.

If I had a winning ticket, step 1 is to secure it in a safe deposit box; step 2 call lawyer to set up a trust, and take whatever other pre-emptive legal/financial measures warranted.

She didn't know it was a winner until she went to retrieve it from her clothes and discovered they had gone through the wash.

She could have recovered it. A police forensics laboratory could have reconstructed the ticket, and proved the simulation was grounded on the remains.

They do something similar with the Dead Sea Scrolls.

That's not good, I grew-up in Norwalk during my formative years. California has gone to hell and that 's why I moved out years ago.

1: There is no guarantee police would do this for her.

2: It wouldn't be free.
