Illinois town cancels July 4th Parade due to Covid concerns, but allows Juneteenth and Pride festivities

Won't happen. All people care about around here is getting or making more of the Star of David money. There's a reason downstaters (who are also assholes for different reasons) want to be a separate state. This place just sucks all around.

Illinois is actualy a deeply conservative state, except in Chicago and the college university towns. This is 20 miles north of Chicago, where Northwestern is. Most of Southern Ill is red, except Carbondale, where UoC is. They have these pockets of wealth and liberalism, and everywhere else is farms and blighted little towns in poverty. They tax people for replacing a window or door, the corruption is so blatant.

They keep supporting the monster that is destroying them.

That's more than a willing victim, that's a victim who will rabidly defend the same person who has a gun to their head.

There's no saving anyone who acts like that. They can't even save themselves.

evanston is NOT 20 miles north of chicago, it is literally the next city over the chicago border. for the geographytards.

Not pandering to"certain" groups.....pandering to blacks and gays, which are both relatively small (and destructive) parts of the population.

Hispanics, legal and illegal, probably are about 25% now. No holidays for them. Or native Americans. Or Asians. Or even good ole Irish. There are local celebrations we could ALSO turn into fucked up federal holidays for these groups, but they only do this for the loudest, most aggressive, violent and dysfunctional groups. If both blacks and gays disappeared from the US magically, aside from the improvement no one would notice.

On a lighter note, I see the traditional Juneteenth rioting has also begun!

In TORONTO our greek food festival called TASTE OF THE DANFORTH has been cancelled but our CAARIBEAN festival has now been changed into a food truck festival which is being permitted.

Very sad.

I was born and raised, and went to school and college in NE Illinois (Lake Co).

Like Jim McMahon, I too moved out to Arizona (after living in CA 37 yrs).

The big MONEY will always be in CA, NY, and in IL..

But some things are better in the cheaper/quieter Western states.

It's definitely a trade-off of sorts..
