Re: Weatherman Fired After 33 Years on the Job for Refusing Vaccine, Goes Out with Legendary Final Words
Well said. Dude needs to KEEP doing the weather, get some help (if he needs it) set up a simple studio (some lights, a camera and a green screen) and do his weather. The tools are all online.

The thing about broadcasting is that people who rely on the "classic" way broadcasters (radio and TV) work are aging. Every day, another one has their 55th birthday, and let me tell you, they go from being a valuable set of eyeballs to someone who, as far as the TV station is concerned, is worthless. Sure, certain cable programs have oldster spots (drugs, Medicare insurance, canes, walkers, etc...) but the rates those get are a fraction of what 25-54 buys pull.

So, it's the younger ones in play, and that means Gen-X down. The audience for the "News at 6" thing shrinks every day. If someone wants the news, they're not going to wait for whatever time the local affiliate puts a 26 year old flawless specimen (they have to be now, because of HD and 4K cameras) on to report on shit they don't understand.

Television talent are the dumbest people on the planet, because the first thing they have to be to get in the business these days, is perfect. Editors write the words, they just have to have smooth, symmetrical faces, straight teeth and good hair. The rest can be written for them. Well, they need to be able to read. You'd be surprised at how many are disqualified because of that. Truly. I've seen cold read auditions that would be HUGE on YT.

If this guy truly created an audience over the years, he needs to take it online for himself.
 Quoting: IAMTHATGUY

Realistically, the 6 o'clock news no longer even plays the news. Anymore, it's about 10 minutes of Covid coverage and another 6 minutes of sports and weather. The rest is commercials. One might think that nary a robbery, theft, murder, fire, or car accident occur.

I'm not sure how things are in other areas at this point, but I've noticed over the past couple years that even the local stations' websites are lacking in real news coverage anymore. Every station in my area is interleaving the local coverage with Covid propaganda, general propaganda, national news or news pieces from across the country, and local promos disguised as news, but very little actual news to be found.

They're also no longer updating on weekends whatsoever. They've been running with local puff pieces for example a local police officer died in a chase and they had this guy on the front page with various different articles for 6 weeks straight.

This is a busy town and I find it very hard to believe nothing else has been going on worth reporting.
 Quoting: Constant Parad0x

The cutbacks in programming and news has been jaw-dropping. Media outlets are working on 30% of the personnel they used to have. TV stations let the vast majority of their older (more expensive) talent, editors and reporters go. These are people who knew how to find and report a story. Today, they are sending out young, inexperienced reporters, and often making them shoot the video themselves. They give them backpack units with a tripod, camera and digital transfer equipment and making them do it all themselves. Young, beautiful and stupid reporters are willing to do it to be on TV. It's very sad.

The result is just as you say. Very little real news. Just crap fed from syndication sources.

He is a fairly well-known person in Michigan's U.P. Super nice guy - I met him when I was in college years back. I imagine quite a few are talking about this, but I doubt much will come from it locally.

Hopefully, the station takes a huge dive over this, but Marquette is becoming increasingly liberal with all the Chicago transplants invading it.

Re: Weatherman Fired After 33 Years on the Job for Refusing Vaccine, Goes Out with Legendary Final Words
Today, it is with a heavy heart, I announce after over 33 years, I am no longer employed at TV6.

I am sad, but, to borrow a quote from a famous ballplayer, “I'm the luckiest man on the face of the earth” because I had a dream as a kid to be a weatherman. That dream came true and to top it off, I got to broadcast weather for one of the most challenging, beautiful spots in the United States. As an added bonus, the people I broadcast to all across Upper Michigan were so kind and encouraging.

Thank you for watching.

I am leaving TV6 because the station's corporate owner, Gray Television, has mandated vaccination against COVID-19 for anyone entering a property owned by the company. Since I chose not to take one of the shots, I was fired. Many of you have taken one of these injections, and that is absolutely your right. It is also my right to choose the medical options I feel are right for me. I have authority over my body.

I have decided against the vaccine option, first and foremost, because the manufacturers of these injections have absolutely no liability if injury or death occurs after the shot. I asked myself, would I buy brakes for my vehicle if the brake company had no liability if the brakes failed? No! So, I will certainly not allow a medicine in my body from a company that does not stand behind its product.

Now, if the risk of death from COVID would be significant, I might take a chance and get injected. However, for a normally healthy adult not housed in a nursing home or not suffering from serious comorbidities, the chance of surviving COVID is well over 99 percent. I will take the chance and go without a shot. I choose not to risk serious side effects.

The abrogation of our liberty and freedom under the guise of a pandemic is very disturbing to me. Hopefully, whether you lean right or left, you are concerned about what has occurred the last year-and-a-half. I just wanted to go about my business, “live and let live”, and keep my mouth shut. But this act by the federal government through corporate America has brought me to a crossroads. Our way of life, our freedom and liberty, is collapsing before our eyes.

Many of you have served in the U.S. military or you know friends, relatives and family members who have served. It's a strong tradition here in the U.P. They have served, and some have given their limbs and even their lives to preserve our freedom and liberty. It's time to wake up to what is occurring here in America and across the world. We are being bludgeoned with fear, I believe, in an effort to control us. Eminent doctors, virologists and epidemiologists who post facts contradicting the “official” accepted narrative regarding COVID are being censored; some are losing their jobs. It's time to honor those who served. For me, I honor them by saying “Enough! I have the right to choose—we all do. If we do nothing, we will lose that right.

One last thought—a distillation of a portion of Jefferson's masterpiece, the Declaration of Independence: “When tyranny becomes law, resistance becomes duty.” Those who love America and the freedom and liberty it stands for, must speak up. Hopefully, it's not too late.

This weatherman is 68. He has a very high probability of being hospitalized and about a 2% chance of dying (IFR for his age).

Plug his 68 year age into the metaregression equation and you'll see he has about a 2% chance of dying if he becomes infected... and he will become infected just as everyone will eventually become infected.
Those who have been vaccinated will mostly defeat it and shrug off the infection... but not this guy. He'll end up in ICU being intubated and crying "I should have taken the vaccine."
.
He's got about a 90X chance of dying from COVID as someone 18-29 years old:

Good God people.
You are seeing people here on GLP who are dying and being hospitalized into the ICU from this and you are still in denial.
How many GLPers died per year before COVID?
How many were hospitalized?
Not many compared to this last year.
... But it's all a conspiracy... Right?
Let's hear from the surviving relatives of those who've died and been hospitalized here on GLP...

Pathetic that so many people are fine with these mandates, bunch of commies in the USA.

They had been going according to their schedule. Then Trump won. A serious setback. Now it seems that their timetable has accelerated? The next 2 months (ha 2 weeks) will be very telling. The Arizona audit, other audits, Michael Sussmann, the southern boarder, pitting the vaxxed against the unvaxxed, vaccine mandates, mask mandates, travel restrictions etc all seem to be happening at once and more coming. Almost like a gathering storm. They just haven't pissed off enough people yet. These increasing restrictions will likely do it.

Something is not right when Obiden first begs us to take the shot then he bribes us, then he threatens us, while all along exempting others.

Like 10,000 per day Southern border new voters coming in that do not have the shot or are tested or even have any of the vaccines that Americans have and had since birth.

Right there should tell anyone on the left or right something is not right .... and not but one "journalist" will even question this.

Something stinks alright,,,,,,

Weathermen of that duration stay until for some reason or other, it becomes impossible to do so - forced retirement, weatherman's son takes over (Houston), or fired for no reason, as in this case. He is a pissed off Older Person speaking out, and has enough retirement to do so. Bravo to him.

Will no doubt be replaced by a weather spokeswoman with huge news and a waistline, or something inaccurately reflecting our real time; or some other great television turn-off.

Kudos to him.

Moral of the story?
Do not take medical advice from a tv weatherman.

I'm 66 yrs old with a heart condition. I will NOT take any of those clot-shots. I live on a small island and haven't been sick in years. I'll take my chances.

There will be huge mobs of 'unemployable' wandering about.

Nice speech. It will be forgotten by tomorrow. Only violence can change the course of things now, sadly.
