Kyle Rittenhouse Trial Live - Day 5

I remember that from the night it happened... who knows what was in the bag but yeah, looked like a bag.

I notice they are not saying much about Anthony Huber.

The fact that he says Rittenhouse said he 'didn't shoot anyone' (which honestly could be misheard from the chaos of the scene or impaired hearing) adds truthfulness to his account, including that the gun he collected was loaded. It proves that these witnesses do not have each others backs to the point of coloring the truth. I have no issue with him. Seems everyone here thinks mental problems for anyone who gives a testimony they don't 100% like. Truth is, he is probably incredibly nervous being on TV watched (at some stage) by a million people.

There is NOTHING in his testimony that changes any facts of the case: that Rosenbaum is seen chasing him and lunging for his gun, that Rosenbaum is seen asking for someone to shoot him, that threats are made to Rittenhouse from the protestors, and that one attacks him with a skateboard (potentially ~11bs), another tries to flying kick him and the other points a loaded gun at him.

I don't see how this witness saying he said he didn't shoot anyone changes any of these facts of the matter. Maybe if it all depended on Rittenhouse's word, but there is ample video evidence to show how it happened. It doesn't matter that much what he told this witness.

I think the mental issues everyone here is talking about are referring to Rosenbaum.

Actually now that you mention it, I remember seeing a video a few days after this incident and clearly remember the guy pointing out there was indeed a Molotov cocktail being thrown. Also the same video showed that the person who fired the handgun wasn't pointing it in the air but in the direction of Rosembaum and Kyle. The muzzle flash was parrallel to the ground.

I some what vaguely recall this as well and often times wondered if the gunman behind Rosenbaum and Rittenhouse was shooting in their direction.

I Found this but I don't see no fire after the BAG hit the ground.

I know it's been said before but is there any testimony about what was in the bag. I know the guy yesterday said it appeared to be a bottle ofammonia and dish detergent? I seen another poster say it was toothpaste? I think a tube of toothpaste and a bottle would be easy to differenciate.

Maybe I a missing something here, but what is the point of a DNA analyst here? Everything is on video and no one is disputing who the shooter was. I guess they will address it at some point.

No DNA means maybe Rosenbaum didn't touch the gun, which is pertinent. The results are pretty conclusive. Not sure if the swabbing process was conclusive.

Yes it was discussed during Jury selection. The contents of the Bag were items given to Rosenbaum when he was released from the hospital.

His girlfriend is expected to take the stand, I am sure she will asked about that bag. Because he had it with him when he went to her house that evening and she told him he couldn't stay there because of the restraining order she had against him, for beating her up.

Thats when he went downtown, bag in hand.

kyle was also wearing gloves, wasn't he? so any of his DNA on his firearms would have been from prior to the events?

For someone who knows nothing about guns personally, I'm under the impression this (the brown parts) are the barrel guard. Not likely the part Rosenbaum would have touched if he were going for the gun, gloves or not.

Nice catch there. I asked because no one disputed he fired the shots so I could not ascertain the reasoning for a DNA expert. I also do not believe it was part of any testimony that Rosenbaum had actually touched the weapon.

Yes you are right. The handguard only covers about 8" of the barrel. The rest of the barrel is exposed and in assuming that is where it was grabbed from the photo. But to discredit the witness l, the police never swabbed the actual barrel.
