Try sitting in the cold with no food, no drinks , no heat, no tools, no shelter , etcetera for a few weeks. You won’t be much of a fighter, won’t you. Preppers will have to fight for you. You prep so you can fight . And the fighting is now. In case you have to flee because you loose, you’ve prepped. You continue the fight from another position . And are the position to do that because you’ve prepped. Prepping is action.

and full pantry at all times

I monitor what I use
and wait for sale prices to restock what I've used

eg.

I just bought enough sliced meat
to last me a year
over half of it was marked down for quick sale because dated for today
it's all portioned out in "individual" servings and in the freezer

It's quite easy to "prove you wrong" since you seem to want to make this adversarial.

It really isn't "prepping", nor is it "survivalism" or any other pejorative term some people would like to attach to a particular lifestyle.

It's simple self-reliance.

It actually was everyone's lifestyle both here in the US and, dare I say by your flag, Canada for ever so long.

You, however, are certainly able to decide such a critical issue any way you choose.

The ones that were prepped when covid shut everything down, had no worries. They didn't have to run out and face mobs of desperate people, to go look at mostly bare shelves. They prepped, and it paid off.

Being prepared for at least a few weeks supply disruption is common fcuking sense.

Mormons do a month or three, historic church and community thing from the 19th century and all that.

Anybody who remembers the 1973 Oil embargo, or the Winter of Discontent (Uk), or any of the later social financial scares, its a no brainer.

Anybody who has the brain cells necessary for reading could read up on 20th century history and think upon things.
