You're never too old for video games, there is something out there for everyone. It's a great way to spend your downtime.

It's the same game over and over again but most people are dazzled by whatever new "skin" they put on it and are tricked into thinking it's something new.

It's not.

The only caveat I'll offer is that if you really like some intellectual property, like "Star Wars" or something...those games will offer new story in that sandbox and be entertaining from that point of view. (Hopefully)

As a/an (almost) 50 year old man, I'm in the same boat...I haven't really played an honest-to-goodness Video game since Knights of the Old Republic II, which sucked.

I'll try something my kids are doing once in a while, and things like Cuphead are very innovative and unique but very, very frustrating.

You should probably stick to retro gaming. There are tons of videogames to get cheap.

Unless you want to pay inflated prices for short games, with downloadable content and micro transactions.

I started to hallucinate the game when my eyes were closed.

I actually haven't played hardly anything since my Amiga 500. The few games I have played on modern systems have seen me virtually kick everyone's ass. The lag on the older game systems makes today's systems easy to anticipate and crush. You kids don't know what it's like to input moves and have to a few seconds before the end result is computed.

I was particularly adept at mortal combat in those days.

I also would destroy Grand Turismo on more modern platforms.

No idea how I would do at multiplayer games like call of duty but I did do well last time I was challenged

I still think these games are really for children and not full grown adults. There are many more important things to deal with as a responsible adult than games meant for children.

the last 3 Tomb Raider games are superb, they will blow your mind, oldish as they are.

OP, if I might make a humble suggestion?

If you prefer a good and interesting story in your game, I highly recommend the Yakuza series. The main storylines are prettt serious and keep you engaged, but outside of that it's Japanese culture and weirdness. At first one would think it's a weird mix but once you get into it, you feel the synergy between the main story and the rest of the game.

Yakuza 0 would be a great starting game.
I believe it's on PC and Playstation only though not sure if it's on xbox or other consoles.

Maybe you have some ppinters to what kind of games you definately DONT want to play :)

Stick to adventure games with heavy focus on story telling and problem solving. 99% of them can be played with just one hand so their good for liesurely enjoyment and disabled people. Loom was one of my first games and i love adventure games since.

I'd say depending on whatever you decide going, avoid all the new competitive type games, like call of duty, fortnite, yeah even pubg sorry. Even, games like World of Warcraft/Runescape, the MMO style games besides those other online FPS games.

Pretty much these style of games have been online for maybe around 10 years, 15 or even 20 years.

The way people play these style of games are totally opposite from how unique, courious and or friendly participating with other people on the internet.

Some of the mentioned games I've put in like around 3k hours from just enjoying doin shit myself because people are most of the time just feels like flat out anti-social like behaviour. People don't really give a shit anymore and aren't really very nice most of the time. I mean it can be found but it's hard to find these types of people.

Other then that if you don't have a buddy to play with you'll just deal with bullshit like that on internet games the majority of the time.

Satisfactory is the best new game since forever.

An awesome game about going to a pristine planet and mining the shit out of it and building polluting factories everywhere.

I had some experience with Second Life. At that time, the company I worked for was considering having a presence on it. That was basically doing nothing except looking at shit and talking to strangers.

PUBG is the one I saw that I thought....that seems new and different to me.
