NO Canned Cat Food at Walmart

Is canned cat tasty?

No fortunately I wasn’t in any need a cat food but it was quite something to see the entire aisle empty along with many other areas of the store.

In my lifetime in America I’ve never seen empty shelves and I’m sure none of us have either unless the stores were sold out after a bad storm or something. But this is getting real.

Most cats will happily eat canned dog food.

Also canned salmon, tuna, sardines, shrimp, they eat almost anything made of meat. Hot dogs, lunchmeat, like anything.

From Sept to Dec it was hard to get canned cat food here in North Texas from both Aldi and Walmart. Walmart had the more expensive kinds but not the stuff cheaper than tuna.

I had a bad feeling at the time people were buying it for themselves...

That generally is lacking in taurine which is an essential protein cats need, but dogs don't.

6-8 months ago I noticed little canned cat food on the shelves. Every time I saw a case of food that kitty likes I bought it.

Now sitting on about 9 cases of canned & 5 bags of dry.

Glad I did it!!!

Why tho?

Is it processed in China and imported? Is it all sitting on a ship off the coast of California?

If so, no more for my cats.

No wonder that shit is always getting recalled.

If it's made in USA, it's got to be pretty automated, how impacted by the pandemic can that really be?

However cats will eventually go blind without the taurine from either cat food or small animals.

Also dog food has way too many carbs and kitty can get obese.

At that point you fattened it up enough to feed your best friend, the dog, of course.

It's cause by an aluminum shortage, so no cans. Has been hitting the soda pop industry as well.

I've gone back to making my own raw food for my cats as one of them had too much diarrhea on that rich commercial food and raw food makes the poops drier with no smell to stink up the place. It worked. I just hope the chicken parts at the store don't vanish as well.

They are probaly remodeling. Everything looked normal at my store . When they had empty shelves, it meant they moved it to another aisle. When I came back it was all remodeled

Last week it was chips. There would only be one kind of a chip and it would be the kind nobody buys, filling the whole shelf. That got better though


They are finnicky though. They like what they like. We make food for ours all the time.
Get a cheap bag of taurine from bulk supplements and sprinkle a tiny bit in and its cat food. Once a week, the tiniest bit of mineral mix or cat vitamin. They get mineral poor and suffer from lack of taurine with regular foods.

Thing is dry is actually better for cats. Cats don't eat paste in the wild. They tear birds apart crunch their bones and rip the flesh from the carcass. They need the crunch.

That's why one has to supplement taurine and minerals in prepared diets. They normally get plenty on a wild diet
