Strange, I saw a similar phenomenon last night centered over the moon. I know what moonbeams look like and this was something else. Looked like something was shining a pair of massive spotlights at 90 degrees to each other with the relative circumference of the moon. If I had to guess, it was probably some kind of particulate reflective dust coming off of the surface of the moon and catching the light from the sun. Apparently, this is a documented phenomenon and occurs at certain times of the year in the lunar cycle. Might also be a dense plasma cloud attributed to "space weather". The sky was completely cloudless and clear.
