Anyone on here do the fasting thing?
Quit drinking awhile ago now.

Decided to see what else I could do for a health tune up.

Came across David Sinclair and his work.

Started a week ago fasting 22 hours out of every day. Had a few bouts of hunger, but not as hard as I thought it would be.

I've had a bit of low energy since I started.

Today marks the first day of a five day fast.

Nothing but coffee and water.

Energy has been good, and I haven't had any problems with hunger. I suspect that I'm burning fat now.

If you have done this sort of thing please feel free to post your experiences.

I do supper Sunday till after work Monday every week. I've done Sunday supper till wednesday morning a few times. The only thing I can say is once, when I was in fair aerobic shape, doing the longer one I was in bed and my heart rate was 53, which made me feel good. There is a video on YouTube called something like when you fast magic happens. It says the good stuff starts at about 23 hours.

Re: Anyone on here do the fasting thing?
I did 7 days once.

Original plan was for 5 but it was going so well I did 2 more days.

Hardest part is the first 3 days.

On day 4 I was no longer hungry

Same on Day 5 that's why I extended it 2 more days.

Lost 12 lbs.

I would probably try to do it again one day. Like I said you can go through the first 3 days, it gets a lot easier after.

We planned on 3 days, but decided to do five. Apparently good things happen around day 3+.

Plan on sticking with the 22 hour fasting on a permanent basis.

Not necessarily, it's called intermittent fasting and it had a good effect on me as well. Some people only eat once every 24 hours. My fasting window is 18-19 hours, Works well for me, along with carb reduction.

nah it is called intermitting fasting and it actually makes a lot of sense...

our bodies were never intended by nature to be constantly fed but to fast really well.

it changes your feeling for your body... you will know again when you are really hungry, most people eat bc they are bored and think it is hunger... also balances out insuline levels and a lot more.

Why do you think all big religions incorporated fasting? Bc it is the cheapest maintenance for your body. In fact this activates the repair mode of your body.

I am quite familiar with intermittent fasting benefits, however I thought the 2 hour window was extreme.

I'm 42
5'9"
170lbs
No belly,

Long term goal is to be able to hike 20 miles a day when I'm retirement age.

So many sights to see. I don't want to be in such rough shape that I'm stuck on the couch during retirement.

Re: Anyone on here do the fasting thing?
I fast 5 days just about every week and I am low carb and fat adapted.

Day 3 is the toughest and easier from that day on. Day 4 and 5 are euphoric.

Sunday at 6pm starts Friday at 6PM I Breakfast.

If you are not low carb and fat adapted it will be extremely difficult.

I can't eat gluten, so 8m typically eat a low carb diet.

This! I made the mistake of doing a long fast before Thanksgiving as the intermittent fasting/one meal a day was going so well..no more joint pain, cravings curbed, sleeping better. And after day 2 it got easier, by day 3 I had no hunger..Thanksgiving dinner was 2 pm on day 5 and I had absolutely no appetite and could hardly eat anything. Long fasts are easier..and you save a fortune on groceries!

Probably better off just finding waays to exersize a bit more. Fasting always made me want to think about food or the next time I get to eat, clock watching etc. Lame doesn't begin to describe. So now i have a small stair climber that i get on if I watch the tube, or take breaks to lift free weights if I am gaming or internet. Shit like that.

Re: Anyone on here do the fasting thing?
Been doing one or two days a week for months. However it’s a little of a dirty fast. One banana in the morning, sweetened tea, and a few nuts throughout the day.

Now at night I have to remember if I am fasting or not, before planning dinner. Oh I have to miss dinner? OK no problem.

No gut left. Clear mind.

Although going two days in a row I can’t do a lot of heavy lifting, mentally. That wears on you for sure.

I also have crystal clear water in the mix. No idea if you see any real results with municipal tap water.

I already exercise. I'm in decent shape.

8 pull ups
35 pushups
Run a mile without stopping.

I've been in better shape, but I'm working on that too.

I like doing things that are hard to do.

I like hacking things, including my body.

For some reason, I always have to have something to work on that's a little extra.

Re: Anyone on here do the fasting thing?
I use to weigh 385 at my highest.

Started keto.

Then I went intermittent fasting.

Then I water fasted 21 days straight.

I dry fasted 5 days one time.

I am now super healthy and clean.

I weigh 170.

I still fast hard 48s on water.

Water
Pink salt
Magniussium
Potassium

Fitness was also key. I am in fantastic physical shape and my blood is clean.
It’s been a 7 year journey to break the food addiction and go up and down in weight.

But you would never believe I weighed 385.

I lost a total of 400 or more pounds because it’s been 7 years self scientific experimenting

I now live a fasting fitness focused lifestyle.
