Also LNG storage and shipping... Lots of other refineries besides gas / oil... The "port" is used to ship out military vehicles and Port of Beaumont (20 miles away) is where they also ship out military vehicles...that where they keep the 2 super large military transport ships are based... Sold to Saudi. Yes... But, appears they pulled out of Port Arthur... When Trump was still in, Saudis came in and bought the old post office and Adams building that have been deteriorating for 30 years... Major construction to gut out / clean up... Had windows boarded up and many of the lots around town had construction materials stacked... Once they awarded Biden president, they came in, removed all the construction trailers, equipment, materials... Also opened up all the boarded up windows / doors to the elements and they are continuing to deteriorate... |

Then watch the cities implode with no food, fuel, or anyway to resupply. Familiarity breeds contempt. I came into this world fighting screaming and covered in someone else's blood. I have no problem going out the same way. Pain is a wonderful teacher, we just don't always know the lesson. |

Fallout and fires will make life horrible for months, and miserable for years. Fresh air and clean water will be a luxury. Supply chains? There won't be any. We will be ON OUR OWN, except for the dopers and convicts and looters and other predators who will kill you for a can of tuna fish. The unprepared survivors will be blessed or cursed, depending on how you look at it, with a very short life expectancy. Nuclear war is an ELE. |

Redlener identified six cities that have the greatest likelihood of being attacked: New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Houston. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82837963 They won't directly target cities initially like we do (Hiroshima, Nagasaki). They will target CA, WA, MT, SD, ND, NE, CO, LA, WY, OH and a few others. Anything having to do with nukes and the ability to deliver them. Somebody that knows what the fk they are talking about. The targets are: PRIMARY SECONDARY TERTIARY In that order. Primary targets are anything that can deliver an immediate Nuclear Strike Within that there are priority categories and tiers: 1st: Silos, Bomber Bases, Carrier Task Groups and Sub bases 2nd: Anything that could stop your inbound strikes, or support outgoing strikes: Tanker Bases, AWACS, ABM Sites, Strategic Fighter Bases. 3rd: Executive Command and Control, as well as facilities that support them, such as bunker complexes, Milsat Ground Stations, and centers such as Cheyenne Mountain, Ft. Belvior, Homeland Command in Augusta, and Southern Command in San Antonio. Anything not falling under those categories is considered a secondary target or below. Primary Economic Targets like DC, NYC, Louisiana Storage, Cushing Oklahoma, Or Chicago can be primary targets as well, depending on priorities and available assets. I agree. Tinker AFB would be a first strike primary target. It's home to TACAMO and has underground complexes under the base. I'd expect an EMP to disrupt travel and communication and then a few well placed 20 Megaton ground bursts to get the underground complexes. Oklahoma City will be destroyed. I'm about 40 miles from OKC and about 35 miles from Tinker. It could get kinda warm by me and depending on the wind direction, lots of fallout... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82837963 Chicago not even top 10 I'm thinking that the nuke would target in between Chicago and Gary, IN. Two major interstates merge, massive railroad chokepoint, significant industrial capability even today, major gas pipelines. Can't get a better return on a nuke. The Russians might even send two. Edit: Isn 't Great Lakes RTC and a Coast Guard facility in the same general area? Edit 2: Chicago has significant stock and commodity exchanges, not as well known as NYC but still important. The commodity exchanges are arguably the top in the US. Last Edited by Lowkey Cyberpunk on 10/28/2022 08:16 PM "Yes, yes. Zathras is used to being beast of burden to other people's needs. There would be a single high yeald high altitude blast over the North Sea.....this would effectively blind the United Kingdom Norway Denmark Northern Europe of radar telecommunications but most importantly for Russia the loss of Fylingdales North Yorkshire and Menwith Hill North Yorkshire as feeder stations for NORAD. The 1st salvo of missiles on the UK were Teesside Sheffield Hull Liverpool Glasgow London Belfast Aberdeen Newcastle Upon Tyne 2nd salvos would target military camps such as Catterrick Tidworth Aldershot Colchester and So on by this time th UK would have been hit by as many as 25 nukes, the country would be devastated and by this time any further attacks would be wasteful expenditure Grumpyarse |

Some estimates name Maine, Oregon, Northern California, and Western Texas as some of the safest locales in the case of nuclear war, due to their lack of large urban centers and nuclear power plants. The Pentagon is the number one place you wouldn't want to be "The six most likely target cities in the US are as follows: New York, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. These countries will stay prepared to combat any type of nuclear attack shortly. The nuclear impact could destroy the city and this will lead to a disaster. All efforts will be made to avoid a possible nuclear attack." [link to brusselsmorning.com (secure)] |

That mustard gas at the PCAP site has all been destroyed in terms with arms reduction treatys. Of course, CF&I (Evraz) steel mill, the dam and a large railyard downtown remain possible, albeit low priority, targets in a counter value attack. Quoting: djscrizzle Can't say the same for the Springs, lying some 40mi north of me. Norad and Peterson field would be the city's main targets, unfortunately. COS would be gone first when the SHTF. Big ones, on the order of 20 megatons would be used for digging out Cheyenne Mountain, leading to very heavy fallout to the east. Being down here, upon seeing a blindingly bright flash off to the north, I'd have between 3 and 5 min before the deafening "crack" from the shockwave arrived. The fallout would/could pose a significant risk, depending on wind direction and precipitation bringing it down in hot spots. How do you think NW of Denver would fare? |
