But surely, that cannot be? Tomorrow i'm having a typical South African Bbq with my kids and grandkids. Quoting: Catellite We use: Lamb chops, Boerewors (Translates as Farmer's sausage, spiced ground beef in a hog casing) and marinaded chicken breasts. I marinade the chic boobies in a mix of soy sauce, sweet chili sauce+ good quality honey with meat+ herb spices. With that, we have potato salad/ pasta salad and "braaibroodjies". A SA classic, its just cheese, onion+tomato sarmies, but done over the bbq fire. There's plenty of variations on that concept. You can make it with breadrolls and use cheese, onion+ finely ground beef jerky+ a bit of cream cheese+sweet chili sauce, eg. Of course marinaded steak can be substituded for, or added to, the lamb chops. For dessert we have ice cream, i make this orgasmic Super Bumpy Rocky Road ice cream. For snacks, crisps and my home made caramel and white choc fudge for the kiddies. With soda, beer or brandy for the men, quirky cocktail drinks for the ladies. Americans BBQ all kinds of cuts. Beef, pork, chicken, lamb, you name it. Tonight though I am making chili. It is 54° here at noon. Perfect day for some good ole homemade chili. Cut with the grain into 2-3” portions and put it in a bowl. Add low sodium soy sauce about 1/2 the medium size bottle. Then cut up a whole bulb of garlic course and add that to the bowl and a tea spoon of black pepper. Move it around in the mixture until all the meat is completely covered. No need to let it sit and marinate, it’s ready to be grilled immediately. Tastes like you know what you’re doing and will be a hit. |
