We only cull the meat birds, our egg layers are spoiled beyond belief. We are in the 200-250 ballpark chicken wise, 20 turkeys, and 2 peacocks. Quoting: The Juan Mower We're shooting them in the head with an air soft gun, before the other parts are done. Not going to cut their heads off or break their necks. Just bang. But they'll have to go into the cone to do this properly. And only if they're injured badly or too many roosters. There will be a bachelor pad. Otherwise long lives. They live 10 years roughly. Or any sort of health management stuff (anti parasite or other)? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85169639 Very little cheap feed if free range. Diatomacious earth is cheap and kills all parasites. I put a tad of apple cider vinegar in their water (just a tiny bit) other than that if they get sick put chlorine dioxide in their water its cheap and works for humans too and all animals. 50lbs of chicken feed is like 18 bucks. last a long time. Black soldier fly larvae are easy to grow and chickens love them. All you need is something rotten! One of those cool ramp pots would be good if you want them to automatically fall to the birds. |

Put her in with the other 2 that are 3 days old and at first they picked on her but now ok. Is that normal? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 86983641 April the first will be sort of lockdown, but they're staggered for this batch, last batch saved them up for a week then put them in, but this one, just kept putting them in after they spent a bit of time at room temperature. So around the 3rd, they may start hatching, onwards, for over a week. If we got land, I'd have a whole bunch of runs and coops side by side, because I want a variety of them. We were thinking of the larva, but a worm composter, worms, scraps, some free ranging. I give them salads and cheese. Oyster shells and in a while when there are more eggs, scrambled eggs and eggshells work too. When they're fine in the food processor. I just put them into the scrambled eggs after that a bit. So will be doing more of that. They love cheese, they liked kefir too. I need to get more nutritional yeast. The Devil tries to convince everyone he doesn't exist. Use Henry's ultra white solar roof coating as a primer! It's cheaper than paint and makes paint stick forever! Just be sure to use the 100% acrylic. |

Hang them head downward over the choking block. They will lift their heads up. Then chop down hard with the machete to take the head off in one hit. Hang them upside down until they bleed out. Then dip in boiling water and pull off feathers. Then slit them to remove the innards. Only takes a few minutes. It helps if you can do it beside a creek or lagoon. Throw the guts in the water to feed the fish. |
