If it's a typical AC setup there's really nothing that typically goes bad in the air handler. It's just a coil and sometimes a TXV.

The condenser fan, compressor, contactor and capacitor are all outside. Those are the likely parts to fail.

I bet you haven't came across husbands that doesn't want to do anything, fix anything or learn anything, the worst type of husband.

Yeah I've got the same deal going on with a 'key not recognised' on a car - I'm waiting on a part that Youtube vid tells me might be the problem (card reader). Wifey is like "but why haven't you just called a the dealership to get it fixed".

But in general I just hate calling trades to fix something that I can (possibly) do (which is pretty much everything).

Those push button start cars are terrible. My jeep has that feature and it's been nothing but trouble. Sometimes I'll have to sit in the car 10 minutes trying to get the car to shut off and not stay in accessory mode. I have to scroll through the start button function numerous times.

Sometimes I get a 'not in park' message and also a 'damaged key' alert. Neither are the case and I'm too stubborn to go to the stealership to get it fixed.

I had zero problems turning a key to start my car, but now they can get you to come to them when you need that card reader or FOB programmed. They've essentially killed another simple DIY fix. Such a scam.
