The BBC also reported that WTC 7 fell before it actually did.
They are prone to mistakes just as much as anyone else.
S. Ossetian seperatists were firing upon the Georgians for at least 3 days beore the Georgians counter-attacked.
This included the use of artillery and they took forward positions on the ground.
Why do YOU feel the Georgians should have just sat back and done nothing about this?
As far as shooting at civilians, I don't see how the seperatists could have avoided shooting from civilian positions if they were inside the city. Once they do that they are really not civilian positions anymore.

Ossetians were victims propaganda.
