Oh of course! It's from a website in Greek but can be translated with bablefish.

Thanks. Very nice. I am only speculating here:

Could it be that the camera lens went became dirty as the craft went into one of the rings and we are looking at the rings through a dirty lens.

Sure it's intriguing..

Anyone?

Where is a mod for a pin when we need one. A pin until we get a reasonable explanation, that's all I ask.

Indeed....I am searching for an explanation but so far nothing... :( It doesn't help that I am lost in translation!

The series of concentric rings are known to any university physics student as diffraction rings caused in this case by light waves bending round tiny dust particles and interfering with one another in circles.

I think those are called airy disks caused by out of focus stars. The camera is focused on the rings.

Re: Strange Saturn: WHAT EXACTLY AM I LOOKING AT?
Ive been watching saturn for several nights, thought my scope had dust but i checked everything(took it apart even)so i could rule-out dust as the strange circles i was seeing on saturn.

How can all the dust be so perfect(round)?and what i was watching(circles)were moving and they were circles inside of circles that were perfect.

And also i saw as it looked like saturn was changing shape, went from round-then lemon/football shape and the circles only came across when saturn was in full round shape.

You might think im nuts, its ok...i saw what i saw and i couldnt find a reason for it but the circles didnt come until it went ta full circle mode.

Re: Strange Saturn: WHAT EXACTLY AM I LOOKING AT?
assini spacecraft captured a collision between Saturn's moon Prometheus and the F ring, which creates a "streamer;" material being pulled from the ring by the moon's gravity, leaving behind a dark channel. There's even a movie of the event! The creation of these streamers and channels occurs in a cycle that repeats during each of Prometheus' orbits. During its 14.7 hour orbit of Saturn, when Prometheus reaches apoapse, or where it is farthest away from Saturn and closest to the F ring, the oblong moon draws a streamer of material from the ring. But since Prometheus orbits faster than the material in the ring, this new streamer is pulled from a different location in the ring about 3.2 degrees (in longitude) ahead of the previous one. In this way, a whole series of streamer-channels is created along the F ring, and Cassini has captured more images showing what are called streamer-channels.
