books to read while sick w/flu
Captain Trips is a fictional virus occurring in the Stephen King novel The Stand.

A form of superflu (influenza), it originates in an American biological weapons laboratory under the Mojave Desert in California,...
and is hinted to have been created by breeding a hybrid of influenza and an AIDS-like illness.
99.4% of the human population is vulnerable and the disease is universally and swiftly fatal to those that catch it.
...

Captain Trips is given several other nicknames by survivors, including “the rales,” and “Tube Neck.” “Captain Trips” and “the superflu” are the dominant names. The official code name of the virus development project was “Project Blue.”

Someone posted a scene earlier where they mention the "swine" flue and it starting in Texas...weird isn't it? The STAND was on Sci Fi or something just a few months ago.

Read the book before the movie version came out. The weird thing was the characters strongly resembled what I had pictured in my mind. I was somewhat disappointed with the movie, with the exception of Gary Sinese's performance.

Re: books to read while sick w/flu
I have read a few king books. Mainly is very early stuff..carrier, christine, cujo. His short story collections are my favorite

like with his other opus novels, I just never finished all 1300 something pages of this novel..got about half way through and my attention span drifted

the movie is good though, and was accurate from what I read of the book.

this is in the top 10 of king adaption movies.

The shining probably being the best, after cujo.

and oh maximum overdrive hehe..he actually directed this one..the only movie he actually directed himself. He is kinda of ashamed of the work nowadays..but does still answer fan mail about the movie. Over drive fans are a odd lot.

The Hour of the Blue Fox (Paperback)
by Hugh C. McDonald (Author)

This book is the true story of the mission to learn of a project so potentially dangerous to the USA that Congress voted to let Hugh McDonald go public with this book.

Hugh McDonald was Army Intel in WWII.
Blue Fox was the name of his spy network in Eastern Europe.
He was called back into intel work when Blue Fox discovered
the Soviets were experimenting with bio-war delivery systems using rockets to release flu virus into the jetstream,
then reading US newspapers to note where flu outbreaks occurrred.

Drama, adventure and absolutely true!
