For Bible students...An interesting story; Ezekiel in stone
I read a book about 10 years ago that has the story & pictures of the Ezekiel stones

As the story is told, grave robbers in Iraq removed marble stones form the prophet Ezekiel's tomb, which is indeed located in Iraq.

They were brought to & given to Israel in 1949 by a Christian who purchased them.

There are over 64 marble "plates" that have the book of Ezekiel chiseled into them. Research indicates the type of Hebrew in the marble stones was used was at the time of Ezekiel.

There are some who postulate that this is a 1st or 2nd generation copy of the book of Ezekiel that was possibly even done by Ezekiel himself

These stones are NOT shown to the public and I can't find any pictures of them on the web

The book that has the short story & pics is called Prophecy 2000 by David Lewis(He has passed away)

An intriguing story

The only web mention I can find at all is here

The Ezekiel Stones are at the center of a scholastic debate as to whether they are first or second generation from Ezekiel. They came to Israel in 1949 from Ezekiel’s tomb in Iraq. The debate centers on whether the style of Hebrew used is more recent than Ezekiel’s time. Dr. David Allen Lewis shows research that indicates the type of Hebrew used was extant at the time of Ezekiel. This would make them the only autograph of the Scriptures in existence

Thanks for the Post.
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Hebrews: 11

Re: For Bible students...An interesting story; Ezekiel in stone
You should probably write to Grant R. Jeffrey as he could point you in the right direction regarding the Ezekiel Stones. One of his books I read years ago, had the detailed story and plenty of pics.

If I remember correctly most of the stones were white and there were a couple that were black. The most significant feature, beyond the text being exactly as we have in the Textus Receptus, was that the entire carving was in bass relief. That means that instead of carving the letters down into the stone, the entire stone is carved away leaving all the letters raised. One can only imagine how much painstaking work would be required to produce these. This method is the best to ensure they can't be tampered with or the text changed. If only modern day "bible translators" held The Word in similar reverence.

On a related note, for those interested in Biblical artifacts, check out the vid in this post - the real Mount Sinai has been located - the golden calf alter, the split rock, etc.

If you have not seen it already look at this story from last year: [link to www.jpost.com]

Apparently this is a fact, not just an interesting story. Looks like the stone tablets are actually real and on display, though it may take some effort to locate where they are currently held at the Yad Ben-Zvi Institute in Jerusalem.

I read a cool book on Ezekiel once. It was called "the spaceships of Ezekiel". Very interesting.

Billye Brim from Prayer Mountain has personally seen these stones, and I have seen pictures of them. The lettering is raised which requires an unknown technique to achieve.

[link to secure.billyebrim.org (secure)] They used wax-and-acid method which ate away the stone to leave only the RAISED letters.
