^Watcher^ User ID: 1213463 United States 01/11/2011 07:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The "wives' tale" is you cut both ends off, place a fork in one end and set the forked end down into a jar. Put this beside your bed as you sleep (or beside whoever has the flu or pnenumonia) and the onion will be black by morning having absorbed the virus or bacteria and all flu symptoms will be gone. (They say the same works for garlic which saved many during the time of the Black Plague and that's why they say garlic wards off evil). Could someone with the flu try that and see if it actually works. As grateful as I am for this fact, no one in my family has been sick this winter for me to put this to the test. |

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), an antioxidant supplement that is also used in pharmaceutical agents to dissolve mucous, is actually a form of cysteine. Giving grandma’s chicken soup that extra healing punch involves adding fresh garlic and/or fresh ginger root, as well as spicy hot peppers or Tabasco. Nutritious garlic is an anti-microbial agent and natural blood thinner, and ginger root is an anti-inflammatory food. The hot peppers, however, are what can best cure what’s ailing you. Eating soup so spicy that it brings tears to your eyes will help break up mucous in your respiratory system and kick the congestion out. |

Quoting: Fubar 980749Thanks, Elderberry tincture has long been known as the 'poor man's medicine chest' for its usefulness, but especially its efficacy in treating cold and flu symptoms. Long used throughout Europe and the Americas, elderberry has a long and respected history as an herbal remedy. Both Pliny the Elder and Hippocrates mentioned and recommended elderberry as a medicinal herb in their writings. On several occasions, when I begin to feel a little out of sorts and can sense the beginning of a cold I do the above and almost immediately I begin to feel back in top form. By the next day, I am feeling terrific! |
