Magma spot also detected 4km depth. There's more discolouration of the water in the caldera than I've ever seen before. Most appears to come from between the two volcanic islands. I've noticed a new spring off the east coast - it is close to the location of several small quakes in the last 90 days. It is gloriously sunny here!! |

Otherwise nothing has happened over the past four months! |

Magma spot also detected 4km depth. Aegeon went out to Kolumbo yesterday, and is at this moment in the Santorini Caldera. I've seen recent articles about CO2 in the Kolumbo caldera - perhaps she is looking for changes. Could be following up on Nautilus' visit a couple of years ago. |

Magma spot also detected 4km depth. MM6.3 just to the West of Crete felt distinctly at the Kamara Beach Bar, Santorini. To and fro movement seemed to be about 3", for about 20 seconds. Fluid in drinks rippling, but no effect seen on sea surface - almost flat calm. Friend's swimming pool was "sloshing about"! No aftershocks felt . . . yet? |

Magma spot also detected 4km depth. Going home tomorrow (sob) Santo volcanics presently peaceful - very few minor quakes, virtually no caldera staining. Guide tells me that the steaming from Nea Kameni is less every day. Not heard any reports from Aegeon's visit. Abramovitch's yacht Eclipse at present parked between Nea and Palea Kameni! Roll on April 2014! |

Magma spot also detected 4km depth. Thanks for the information and great folklore. Always find that stuff interesting. I always wonder about the Atlantean tales. It could have been Santorini, or perhaps a Canary island flank failure that lead to its destruction, depending on where Atlantis actually was that is (if it existed in the first place). Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1895541 If it existed the texts are very specific it is in the Atlantic. Maybe the Canaries are part of it. Though I think they are quite close, I place it at the middle of Atlantic ocean. A massive volcanic blowout of the Santorini caldera and resultant seismic activity (which occurred around the 3rd millennium B.C., I believe) could cause a tsunami heading west across the Mediterranean Sea, and possibly out through the "pillars of Hercules" (Straits of Gibraltar) into the Atlantic Ocean, where it could've destroyed Atlantis (wherever in the Atlantic it might've been). Remember the Indonesian earthquake caused the tsunami that wreaked havoc on coastal Japan. |

The Minoan period civilisation here was very advanced and it's destruction Is doubtless the source of the Atlantis "legend". I'm back there! Very little quake activity over winter. Slight staining around the Kamenis. Really MUST visit Nea this year. |

Magma spot also detected 4km depth. Yeah-I could indeed be tempting fate! I do spend time rehearsing what to do if/when another big quake hits us. Depends on where you are, in bed, walking somewhere, having a coffee (it's a hard life here). Tsunami is possible too, one hit here after the 1956 twin quakes. Looking at the local seismometers - hardly anything nearby at all so perhaps no moving magma. But things can change . . . |

Locals apprehensive in case it triggers something near or under Santorini. Nothing. . .yet? Staying away from places where things could fall on me! |

However, two MM5+ shocks about 100 miles to SSE, didn't feel anything but Nea Kameni seismometer crazy with aftershocks. Waiting to see if anything triggered here. |
