Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26991073 You can make a sub refueling base there. Indeed, but the article also mentions the extreme climatic circumstances, 333 stormy days a year and ice everywhere. Would be quite the effort for sure. I find the idea of a base near the Arctic more likely than Sputnik for being the cause of the submarine north pole expeditions, but i know not much. :D |

The op misquoted Antarctic he meant Arctic. Coincidentally, Admiral Byrd invaded the southern pole in 1957. People died, planes were lost and the "exploration expedition" was suddenly cut short 4 months early. The entire fleet was sent scattering and bolting from the region for whatever reason. All in documented history, look it up. |

Meggarea User ID: 1585244 United States 11/04/2012 04:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh, some dude posting on a forum in German SAID he called a newspaper, and they confirmed it? Well, that's rock-solid evidence! ETA: I still don't know what the article even said, so it doesn't really matter if it is genuine or not. How can you verify something, if you're not even sure what it is you're supposed to be verifying? No ship names, dates, people who might have been involved, nothing. ehecatl User ID: 26160376 Mexico 11/04/2012 08:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The US never really clearly won the war with Japan like the myth they wish to portray. My grandparents confirm this, and even in the 1960's in southern california air raids were still fresh in their minds. I think douglas dietrich is correct in this aspect. |
