Quoting: Jonny Blaze All they have are those still photographs, which is really odd to me. Someone was there taking still photo's but no video? These days, just about every phone can take a few minutes of video. This has always bothered me. We saw them rushing pockets of kids out during Columbine but not here. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1482838 I think this is from a police helicopter. I remember an interview with a local Fireman. In his weird discussion with Brooke Baldwin of CNN he says he feels guilty. He also said the first thing he heard and saw was the helicopters overhead. He didn't get a call. They weren't CALLING the local first responders. He also stated that he was surprised it was worse than he was thinking it was going to be. His words and actions and Brooke Baldwin's strange behavior. That guy seems to really stumble with a lot of answers. He does give his name in the video, hesitantly. And also, when she's asking him questions, the guy looks up and to his right a lot, which is a good indication that he's making stuff up and not remembering actual events. Yeah, his body language is totally off. He just wants out of there, and not because he has anything really pressing to do, he just feels uncomfortable. |

Also during the holidays the office is busy , sick kids checking out, late kids being checked in by parents, visitors checking in. That is the most awkward video I have seen to date!! That guy seems to really stumble with a lot of answers. He does give his name in the video, hesitantly. I also am confused by this. If he was working across town when he heard, and already saw the helicopters, that means the first responders got there way late..Doesnt make sense to me at all. Hooray Blind Squirrel, thanks for finding it! I was worried it was gone. What it shows poster above is that he was assigned to this fire department, yet he was not invited to attend. Locals were not part of the exercise. Other poster: This was not on Friday so the Wreaths were not early. I just thought it was a blatant tie-in for the viewer to remember the shooting 3 days prior at Clackamas. What also strikes me is that he doesn't listen to this on a scanner, but on a radio, where he thinks it has only 3 victims. Even then, why does he go to the Fire Department and when? After his regular job? And of course, she spins why he feels guilty as to "what could he have done"? When I feel like the source of his "guilt" is regarding the crap being passed off as real and his role in it. Is there anybody who lives reasonably close to there, that could go talk to this guy? |

katballoo User ID: 31888099 Canada 01/11/2013 10:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is just more and more as each thing is examined, that shows up.. i read that article linked above, and this part struck me as strange.. well the whole damn thing is strange but this particularly.. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31881031 "It’s a 2.3-mile drive from the Newtown station to Sandy Hook Elementary School: A left, a right and another right. The first on the scene were nine Newtown officers, divided into three teams of three, including the police chief. They were the first, after the shooter, to force their way into the school, via the front lobby and the rear door. Inside: silence. The air smelled like the department’s firing range: spent gunpowder. By that time, 1,000 feet down the road from the school, William Halstead, the chief of Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue, knew something was wrong. From his desk, he had heard the sirens as the first squad cars passed — a typical sound for this stretch of Route 6, which connects Newtown’s Main Street with Interstate 84 — but he thought nothing of it until the noise began to compound." Ok.. so 1,000 feet... and he didnt hear 100+ rounds of a semi automatic gun going off .. it would of echoed nicely from the top of that rise that the school sits on... the fire house and neighbours would of heard the continuous sound of gunfire for the full 4-6 mins it took .. Yet no neighbours heard these shots.. no one at the fire house heard the shots and went running up the driveway or called police.. not even the students heard 100+ rounds being fired off... So is that strange.. or is it just me? And what is with the "total silence" going into the school? With that many students, and staff, you would think there would have been some kind of pandemonium going on. |

This is not really a 'rural' area. It is very wooded residential area. Newtown is between Danbury and the Southbury area. There are no large farms or farmland. This is they why when people say the 'missing shooters' in the woods may have been local hunters is simply nuts. There is no hunting area around there. Its all residential with large lots. Plus - it was not standard (rifle) hunting season in CT at the time - at least for deer - the primary game hunters are focused on. Hunters, hunting within a mile of a school in a residential area? Nuts. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 13079166 United States 01/11/2013 11:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Image 1... titled "Orientation Lines" [link to imageshack.us] A 3 picture graphic of screen captures of the Youtube helicopter footage, and 2 from Bing maps of the Sandy Hook school, one a vertical view, the other an oblique view. The red lines connect the same feature as seen in each of the captures. Image 2... titled "Sun Angle" [link to imageshack.us] This image uses the same Youtube and Bing maps vertical view captures as seen in the previous image. In the left image, the red lines indicate the start and end points of a standing person. These locations can be eyed relatively accurately and transferred to the right vertical view as indicated by the green lines and red dots. The black line is parallel to an imaginary line drawn through the red dots of the start and end shadow points (so as not to obscure the red dots). The blue line is drawn north-south as is the north arrow on the right. The angle between the blue and black lines represents the sun's azimuth (by definition the sun's angle from north measured clockwise), resulting in an azimuth of approximately 178 degrees. This is obviously very close to due south, which equally obvious, indicates a time of around noon for the helicopter footage. More precision can be found by utilizing an azimuth vs. time calculator for specific geographic locations and date. See image 3, Newtown, Dec. 14. [link to imageshack.us] From this chart, 178 degrees of azimuth puts the time for the helicopter footage around 11:40. The largest source of error in this analysis is eyeballing the shadow placements on the Bing maps vertical image. Even being off by as much by as 5 degrees (though I'm confident the placements are not this inaccurate) the time of the helicopter footage would still be pinned between 11:20 and 12:00. --------------------- |

Even high school main lobby's are busy during this time of year, and definitely elementary schools between sick kids leaving, kids late because of doctors/dentist/orthodontist appointments, parent volunteers, parents coming in for IEP meetings with staff, etc. Mornings are especially very hectic for most elementary school offices. They did mention one parent was supposedly in a meeting with the school psychologist, did they ever interview her? I remember hearing about it once, then nothing afterwards. This parent would have seen or heard a lot, seeing that the principal and psychologist left the meeting with her to find out what was going on when the gunman first came in the building. That's the only person, though, that they mentioned being there in terms of parents or volunteers besides gingerbread Dad who took off running into the woods instead of staying with his kid and protecting them (please tell me what parent does that?), and there hasn't been any articles or interviews with her ever since. |
