I doubt they have infra-red vision, but they might. Any way you look at this though, it is a risky job.

If they were welding down there they still need to use similar tech to weld...and O2 is one of them...and yes, they are in deep water and methane or natural gas is a real problem...so someone hopefully is watching the pressures and gradients and not surfing for porn like our financial industry big wigs...when our economy collapsed





As far as fish or eels or sea serpents...there are deep sea fish and eels...that can withstand the pressure...like squid or whales...but they are set up to withstand the crushing depth...

even at 200 feet...the pressure is incredible to a small woman(even if one works out)

Many of the sea creatures at that depth, have luminous appendages that work as lures in the deep for prey...Naturally any of them one sees near this hardware, are dead or dying...some can manage to swim away to only die...or seem to swim away. There are also volcanic vents on the sea floor that some creatures or geothermic vents...like a geyser...and now they know that even bacteria or sulphur based life forms are actual and not just in sci fi...

There is much that is not known about the deeper sea creatures-Just as in the ones we can access, little is really known-even through the decades as they discovered facts-there is far more that is not known...and still we have 'toddlers' dabbling and possibly unleashing the horde out of pandoras box

Many are poorly sighted like cave fish or eels...as the darkness is quite pervasive down there.

But you know, there's something strange about that shit coming out of there. I would have thought that crude oil would be really thick and if it were gushing out, that it would look more like a super-thick, continuous glob that would really shoot upwards trying to float to the surface. This stuff almost behaves like thick smoke. Maybe it's just the intense pressure of the water. Strange though.
