You guys need to understand holons...it is the structure of our reality...or should I say...our current reality...it is a foundational concept...opens your eyes to understanding the way complexity works...patterns...overlaying patterns...

A holon is something that is simultaneously a whole and a part. The word was coined by Arthur Koestler in his book The Ghost in the Machine (1967, p. 48). Koestler was compelled by two observations in proposing the notion of the holon. The first observation was influenced by Nobel Prize winner Herbert Simon's parable of the two watchmakers, wherein Simon concludes that complex systems will evolve from simple systems much more rapidly if there are stable intermediate forms present in that evolutionary process than if they are not present. The second observation was made by Koestler himself in his analysis of hierarchies and stable intermediate forms in both living organisms and social organizations. He concluded that, although it is easy to identify sub-wholes or parts, wholes and parts in an absolute sense do not exist anywhere. Koestler proposed the word holon to describe the hybrid nature of sub-wholes and parts within in vivo systems. From this perspective, holons exist simultaneously as self-contained wholes in relation to their sub-ordinate parts, and dependent parts when considered from the inverse direction.

Koestler noted that in every order of existence, from physical to chemical to biological and social systems, entirely self supporting, non-interacting entities did not exist. And more importantly, that entities can be seen to lie in holarchical relationship with each other. He called systems of such entities Open Hierarchical Systems (OHS) and these have subsequently been called holarchies. Every identifiable unit of organization, such as a single cell in an animal or a family unit in a society, comprises more basic units (mitochondria and nucleus, parents and siblings) while at the same time forming a part of a larger unit of organization (a muscle tissue and organ, community and society). A holon, as Koestler devised the term, is an identifiable part of a system that has a unique identity, yet is made up of sub-ordinate parts and in turn is part of a larger whole.

It is not by accident, I believe, that the two founders of holon theory have both come from outside of academia.

SickScent I appreciate your posts. You are one of the nine people I have chosen (from GLP) to help administrate the TFOS forum. (Sorry, this is off topic. I don't have a membership to this forum so i can't send private messages.) The forum I have just recently created, potentially will hold many of the same ideas I find in your threads and in your blog. I can tell because of the motive behind your threads your destined to help the World. There are many people out there just like us and we need to find them. Check out the below link only if you are interested. Note : the website as you can see says TFOSmusic.net, this will soon change to TFOSforum.net, another person out of the eight that I have found on god like productions just bought new Website Software and is creating the new website. Another note : my idea is to build up the population of the TFOS forum. Then once we have a good amount of posters, We find the Intelligent posters and delete the rest (this will help stop the "BS") if my idea works we have created an amazing environment, able to accomplish any thing. Yes...the philisophical concept of holons can be placed into ANY form...societal, biological, etc.

Water...

You have atoms, molecules, two hydrogen bonding with one oxygen forming a 'stable intermediate form'...water. Water exists in higher complex forms, ie...us. Therefore, it can be stated that it is a stable intermediate form as it can exist without us, but at the same time, can exist within us (within higher complexity).
