There's a group of protesters (as you say old Hippies) carrying signs that stand about a dozen strong almost every Friday night on a quasi main street corner here in my neck of the woods -- I always honk for them! I haven't been onstage but I got to see the Red Russian Army Choir. They perform non-Socialist favorites like Sweet Home Alabama. The Leningrad Cowboys opened for them. They have to be the World's Worst rock group. Beat on a big drum with a giant red star.
You have to see one of their shows to believe it. After 6 months of ice, snow, and darkness, anything is entertainment.
The crowd favorite is Kalinka. I'm sure you would recogise it. Ka-lin-ka, ka-lin-ka, ka-lin-ka-my ah! And they squat down and kick their feet out while playinig a Balalaika which is like no musical instrument you have ever seen before. If you get the wrong place on that stage you get kicked to death. More VODKA! and the audience sings along.
When my plane landed in Stuttgart I almost got down and kissed the ground.

I have identified some anomalies in the images of the spirals. At least anomalies in reference to the physics of what we see. Something is off. I will try to get it together and post more about it.
