The virtue of courage is a prerequisite for the practice of all other virtues, because otherwise one is virtuous only when virtue has no cost. There are times when something needs to be done, and yet we know that if we step up and do this needful thing, we will pay a heavy personal price. -C.S. Lewis |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1006414 United States 07/29/2010 04:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Depends upon how good it is for surfing and mail. I bought a netbook just for mail and a little surfing when traveling and it does OK but not great. All I need is something so I can easily check my mail and send mail and do the occaisional web search, and at this price this may fit the bill IF it is lighter than my netbook (2.3 pounds + power supply) I have no desire to spend $500 for something that will eventually get trashed as I travel so Apple's iPad while nice just isn't going to cut it for me. One item that would be nice would be UBS ports and an ability to plug in a data modem such as Verizon or Sprint so I wasn't limited to just "hot spots". |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 992893You can make free phone calls from any PC or pc like device with a mic. and speakers/headphones. Because of the rise in popularity of data plans many manufacturer have been forced by service providers to put limmitations in there operating systems to stop certain forms of data calls or tethers. Blackberry got fed up and made there phones available to other providers. The andriod operating system had tethering for intenet network sharing removed in v.1.6 at the demand of Tmobile. The aledgadly open market of "andriod market" no longer will alow any tethering apps on the market that provide network sharing features thanks to verizon they cant even be downloaded and istalled in a none rooted device. If you root an andriod device there are endless apps one could make and download. Googles andriod is the only os that I know of that actually suggests owners to root aka "jail break" their devices so they can meet up with the origanal purpose. Anyone who bought an earlier model will see how much the os changed after verizon made a contract with them. Verizon ruins everything always. [link to lifehacker.com] If your not that computer savy heres a link with some easy ways to get your andriod tablet calling via wifi. The link is more driven to rooted mobile devices. Some more apps will definetally be available after the tablet release. PREDICTION Soon after that the verizon dsl and fios network with filter common voip ports and block andriod access with out certificates from their navigator browser. |
