2 Years Ago I bought a Hi-Point C9 Comp. Now, I buy every Hi-Point I can afford! | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 957216 United States 08/29/2010 09:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was actually looking for a 9mm carbine about a week ago and Hi-Point was the first to show up. I read almost all of the 20-something reviews, and everybody loved it (knowing that it is not a high end rifle, expectations were lowered). I just rather purchase something all of the same caliber, and when I saw the prices, I was like, "no way". But now, I'm not so sure. It's looking like a good buy... for the price (as you may hear/say when talking about hi-point) The funny part is, since looking at the hi-points last week, this is the second thread I've seen about them. Seriously considering. What do you think of each one? |

Rev-bo User ID: 1082981 United States 08/29/2010 09:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Two years ago I bought a 9mm Hi-Point C9 with a compensator. I've run a few hundred rounds through it. Its a tremendously reliable gun. Since I picked it up, I bought a regular C9, a 995 9mm carbine and a CF380. I love them all! The gun snobs tell me they are cheap but at the range they all want to shoot it because it shoots so much better than their Blocks, er, uh, Glocks. Quoting: NetRangerFor the life of me, I cannot understand why everyone gripes about things being made overseas then when some company like Hi-Point comes along and creates a good product with an unlimited lifetime warranty they still don't buy it and complain they are not any good. Comments? I think it's snobbery more than anything else. Let's face it; Hi-Point guns are ugly as hell, and a lot of gun folks can't get over that. They want to shoot in style, and Hi-Points have zero style. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |

Maguyver User ID: 1082989 United States 08/29/2010 09:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have zero experience with High Point other than rumor. When I think or reliability, I want to run 500 rounds or better with NO failure. None. If the H.P. can do that, it will get a positive vote from me. Adversity is inevitable, misery is optional. <FOCUS> User ID: 915493 United States 08/29/2010 09:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought a 9mm compact a few years ago. As long as I used the standard magazine it worked fine. If I put in the extended magazine it jammed at least once every 30 rounds or so. I ended up giving it to my parents so they would have a gun in the house and bought a ruger Blackhawk revolver. I prefer revolvers due to the fact that they never jam. But yeah if you want to have a gun and can't afford something nicer, it's a good way to go. Hell, it's got a lifetime warranty. |

Quoting: MaguyverExcluding my test rounds, the C9Comp has done that. The blowback operation seems to eliminate jams. Crazy thing will eject and feed on reloads that anything else won't even eject. The only thing is, so I've heard, they will start jamming if you don't clean and lube them once in a while (if you're shooting them). Since they are blowback operated instead of recoil operated, the "blow" is full of soot and gets down in the action. I did have a CF380 that I have since traded that would jam. It didn't give me a good impressions. So, I dismantled it and cleaned it good. Never had a jam after that. I sometimes wonder if the bad reputation the HP's get comes from their dirt collecting habit. Once they start jamming, people just trade them off. Then, once the new owner gets it he gets a bad impression because its a jammer and then passes it on until someone that knows what they are doing cleans it out. I know I sure do like both of my C9s. ...and the carbine is accurate. With handloads it will keyhole at 100ft. Pretty amazing for a 9mm. |
M U S I B I K E User ID: 986640 United States 08/29/2010 02:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A 9mm carbine is a most excellent choice. I got a Ruger PC9 before they went out of production. Very adjile and balanced rifle. Then, I assembled a 9mm AR15 from RockRiver Arms. A very accurate 9mm rifle. I just had to cut some UZI mags to work in it. 9mm is affordable and useable shooting. MUSIBIKE |

My philosophy has always been, "If you can't get them down in 9 shots, what makes you think 11 shots will do you any more good?" ...of course I still like my P95 with 15 shots. 100% Unmodified DNA (mRNAless!)
