I was still somewhat skeptical of ST's explanation that magma moving to the surface was causing fires in volcanic regions, but reading the above made me think differently.

Here in British Columbia Canada, many fires were clearly started by lightning strikes as there we many storms throughout the province. But what caused the major heatwave that dried out the forest to begin with? I guess it really could be magma, which could have started some fires itself. I'm not sure why the temperature eventually moderates to normal seasonal temperatures in this case though?

The Sun is a very noticeable orange this morning. It doesn't
even hurt to glance at it for a fraction of a second, as it normally does. It is a very eerie feeling!

Adding to this, the very first thing that struck me this morning when I got up was when I walked into an East-facing room and noticed that the furniture was cast in an orange light, instead of the normal almost-blinding white light.

Zealand, an 8.4 in the Marshall Islands Region and an 8.4 in/near the E. Caroline Islands, Micronesia. The latter two are very close together geographically and occurred at the exact same time, so possibly they are the same.

In any event, the 8.8 is the highest magnitude I have seen so far.

I was still somewhat skeptical of ST's explanation that magma moving to the surface was causing fires in volcanic regions, but reading the above made me think differently.

Here in British Columbia Canada, many fires were clearly started by lightning strikes as there we many storms throughout the province.

But what caused the major heat Wave that dried out the forest to begin with?

I guess it really could be magma, which could have started some fires itself.
