The formentioned reference to a terrestrial fictional story involving visiting aliens and a book named "To Serve Man"
was actually a favorite story of mine when I was young.

I believe the story is more of a lesson to humans dealing with their often over suspicious and racisit attitude against those deemed different visually, and a reflection of human's tendency to be quick to judgement.
The humans at first glance at the title, and without much further examination judge the book to be a cookbook, and thereby judging the "et's" to be "evil". When in reality, after the "et's" having cleaned the book cover, it is revealed that the book is not related to cooking man, but rather a book on how to cook FOR man.

The humans are shown the error of their ways, are returned to earth deemed, not yet ready for contact.

I have allways felt this is a great lesson in race relations/prejudice ,"judging a book by its cover"
