Great find OP! Very interesting article. For the last few years I'm convinced something is speeding up time? As many, I'm thinking this is a product of my fertile imagination, BUT, maybe there will be a scientific explanation?

Not everyone is suggesting doom here.

Just for the record, woo woo's are considered to be those that believe in things that haven't been scientifically proven as fact. Yet, science has always been about looking into the possibilities of the unknown and to learn things that we haven't yet learned.

As far as mainstream science, there is a culture of science, and then there is the results of individual experiments. Which can be stitched together in any subjective fashion.

OK. This thread is based on information gleaned from mainstream science so why would any self respecting woowoo wish to use mainstream science sources for additional research?

Mainstream science good only if from lightweight articles used to start threads. Mainstream science bad if used for additional in depth research.

If you mean the article in the OP from projectworldawareness.com, yes it is BS.

It is citing some research on decay rates and then, in GLP fashion, hijacking that research and covering it with a thick steaming layer of BS dreamt up by the author of the article.

In any event, this is old news. There was a thread on this quite a few months ago. I'm not going to rehash all the woo and rational responses to that woo. The original paper is available online and shows nothing of the sort of fantasy the woowoos are attaching to this research.

If memory serves:
The effect is bi-yearly. It averages out over a year. The deviation is only something like 1/1000 of the expected rate so the young earth creationists fail if they try to use it to impugn C14 or U/Pb radioisotope dating.

It is probably a systemic error, unfortunately. It would be more exciting if it is an actual effect, but I'm leaning toward it being an unaccounted error as much as I'd like it to be real. If it were real it would be meaningless to the average person. It would not sweep away the pillars of conventional science much as the woos desire. It would not mean that all the illucid pseudoscience ravings of the delusional netizens suddenly become true or even reasonable.

It would not be a paradigm shift for conventional science, sorry.
