What Is The Best Martial Art To Learn? (Considering ALL Aspects Of The Mind, Body And Soul)
I'm looking for information on what the best martial art would be to learn. Partly for self defense, but also for body development, centering myself, stretching, etc.

This^^^^ wierdest MA I've done, nobody really wants grading, as someone said after a grading session "Badges? Badges? we don't need no stinking badges!"
Most chilled out and down to earth too, and they also teach you some very cool or dodgy stuff too.

A thought to bear in mind is the fact that all martial arts teach you to fall on mats, in a real situation you will, if engaged in real conflict fall on something much harder, like a pavement for example. Taijitsu teaches you how to take this...and trust me it hurts. You need a really good Sensi.

Re: What Is The Best Martial Art To Learn? (Considering ALL Aspects Of The Mind, Body And Soul)
We each have our pride with our arts or art. Considering that many have sweat, blood and the occasional broken bone.
When I see a question such as 'the best' of anything I consider that the question is 'the best for me' as in the asker.

All martial arts are very personal. I would suggest an internal art such as bujinkan. But your preference maybe for something else. So I would suggest for you, go look, learn and try.

I tried hungar kung fu (probably wrong spelling). I've also tried kenpo. Neither were good for me. No inner development at all. Classes were a bit spread out with people of all levels doing the same exercises. I want the more personal side, self defense is kind of a less important issue for me.

Buy a gun.

Just kidding.

Aikido is good, but what the other guy said... not the Steven Segal-ish ones.
Everyone dies, but not everyone lives.

Re: What Is The Best Martial Art To Learn? (Considering ALL Aspects Of The Mind, Body And Soul)
It really depends on you.

I would suggest Jujitsu.

Not Brazilian, but traditional Jujitsu.

Kung Fu is good as well but takes years and years to learn.

Hapkido is good as well.

Shotokan is a good all around fighting art from Okinawa.

TaeKwonDo is still taught to our military.

Research this online.
Watch videos.
Think about what your trying to learn from it.

Above all else find a good teacher.

If you like the person you learn from and they are proficient in time you will be quicker and better than them.

It is the goal of any good Sensei to have his students outperform him in time!

Re: What Is The Best Martial Art To Learn? (Considering ALL Aspects Of The Mind, Body And Soul)
Here's the main issue when trying to find "the right" style of martial arts. It's not so much which style but more so, which teacher/school.
I live in central Pa. and I've been to (5) different dojo's within the past (5) years. I have a black belt in TKD and kodokon Judo. I dabbled in Krav Maga and Hokkyru Jujutsu but I can honestly state that the instructor is what can make or break any style of martial arts.

On the street?

Head-butting into your attacker's nose.

FTW!

Stops 99% of street violence.

If it doesn't, turn around and run like fuck!

bujinkan budo taijutsu
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 892057

that was dbz style of practicing. they just pretty much said, your turn my turn. ill take blows you take blows until we are dead pretty much. It was the saiyjins that had very strong will to live. and in that time/story dimension, it was the person with the strongest will to live that got stronger, because they got beat to such a pulp that they recovered by that much more then their opponent did.

seriously, that story has so many meanings, it is the best. and each ending, the story to the origional dragonball manga, and the ending of the shows in GT were both amazing story lines, that focused on the things we actually know, like things and stories that are said/told from prophesies. the meanings are only for the people that look to see them, and each meaning is different, and only when you look to the inner satanic meaning does it get bad.

I see only one bad story to goku's story, and that is if he gained the power to be more powerful by ego and desire to be the best, or if he gained the power to become the most powerful by having a pure heart with only pure intentions.

Really something amazing, when you step back from the story, and look deep. lolsign
