I guess the main thing is it burning up all the power lines and having to rebuild that infrastructure. That might be a great time to bring in teslas wireless energy towers lol. But just curious what do you think will happen to electronics if shtf? I mean would like laptops explode in your hands or flame up as free electrons overpowered the battery? What about being in a bathtub? Guess not. Electrons cant pass through a wall. So all methods of entry involve wiring or conductors. |
Echo7 User ID: 724486 United States 02/17/2011 12:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I still have to say, no matter WHAT is going on with the sun, it has never resulted in something I have noticed IRL. so if this is a HUGE deal, is there a way I will detect an effect somewhere outside my home? Will there be a news report about ANYTHING significant? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1183343Or is this like reading about weather on Mars. Exciting if you're a martian, but otherwise, who cares? Not that I'm anti-doom. Far from it. It's just that I never see anything interesting happening no matter what the sun does or doesn't do. KWIM? this is absolutely my feelings as well. in fact, i'm starting to get a bit annoyed at the solar doom threads getting pinned and jack shit real world events happening over it. with so much real news out there, having 2-3 threads reporting a solar flare or CME that does absolutely nothing to the real world is pretty much DISINFORMATION as far as i'm concerned. i mean if this will take out radio coms, cause earth quakes, power outages, etc and this gives people time to prepare then by all means, promote the information. However, if all that happens is that the northern areas see the same northern lights and auras they normally see, then why is that crap pinned? don't get me wrong - i think the information is fine for the site, just not entirely justified as taking up 20-30% of the pins at the top of the page. HELLOOOOOOOO? Seriously, OP and the other Sun "enthusiasts"...I respect and admire your knowledge of what is happening with the sun. You all seem to be very knowledgeable on the matters. You provide links to informative resources along with your in-depth analysis. Unfortunately, to people like myself who are uneducated on these topics, the charts and signs and all of the information you provide to us, is lost on us since we can't interpret the information. With that being said, as you are certainly concerned enough to present the information to all of us here on GLP, could we please request that you provide the information to us in "layman's" terms, as well, that might be more useful to us and thoroughly convey the intent of your post to begin with? Otherwise, it does seem to be wasted on the majority of us who read them. Also, as in the two quotes above, could you please explain to us how these solar events may impact us individually in real life terms that may in some way be measurable and conceivable to the average person? I think I speak for a number of us on here who would greatly appreciate it if you could. Thank you... This is towards the beginning of a solar cycle that is expected to peak within the next couple of years. The Sun will become more, and more active. Our society now relys on electronics more than it ever has before. How often do you pay for something with "cash money"? If you are like most people probably not too often. If we have a big solar event like we very well may have today, and there are problems with communications...like satellites..you may not be able to swipe that card, and if thats the case, you won't be able to go pull it from the bank either. If High Frequency Radio transmissions are messed up today, there may be planes sitting on the gtound, so no flying. These simple things can have a domino effect that ripple through our economy, cause panic on wall street over an uncertain future, and can devestate our economy causing gas and food to go up, and you to become less wealthy. Very interesting. Thank you. OK, now THAT we can relate to...Again, thanks for the insight. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. |

I am attributing to the change in the magnetosphere...because I can. :) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1232948Okay-Tues afternoon about 4:30, I suddenly experienced a nauseous feeling and my vision and balance went crazy. It was if if I turned my head to the left or right,it took a moment for my vision to catch up-almost a series of after-images. Made me queasy so I went (a bit sideways!) to the couch-just quit prepping dinner and laid down. My hands were tingly, too. Took about an hour before I was ready to resume dinner and have a beer. Today, I have brief periods of vertigo but not like before. I really wondered if I was having a stroke or something! Then, last night while talking to my daughter who lives across town, she said on Tues, about 4 or 5, she had THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE! Everything was the same for us both. I said there were some powerful electromagnetic happenings with the sun and she agreed. Both of us have followed SOHO for 12 years or so. Maybe we need a report thread on GLP on physical symptoms for the next few days. |
