How would martial law work?

That's why the would use UN forces, and/or Canadian forces. The ground work for doing so has already been established.

And, sadly, most people will capitulate, not fight back. Even against brute force. This is why things like Germany's concentration camps, America's concentration camps (didn't know we had them during WW2? think again), and etc. keep happening without pause throughout history.

Martial law has been in effect for ~100 years.


Obviously they could never implement it with tanks in the streets. It is much easier just to assassinate opposition leaders.

yeah, but it would take a massive army to lock down the u.s. It would probably take thousands and thousands alone, where i live.

I guess you didn't see the post about getting a new drivers license in a different city to be able to move around when lock down comes around. Just in case you know, its good to have two licenses anyways.

"Martial law" is a contradiction of terms. Trumping civilian courts with the UCMJ is probably what most people mean when they talk about imposition of "martial law" - a situation that could occur if there were social unrest in a particular area for an extended period of time (as depicted in the movie The Siege). In this situation, the legislative and judicial branches of government are effectively decommissioned. If the President is ousted during this time, as happened in Egypt, it is a military coup, not "martial law."

We don't need to revolt. All we need to do is stop showing up to work... as difficult as it is to believe, they'll starve before we do (they have to feed millions of people on the government payrolls... you only have to feed your family).

Thats right OP welcome to the magical word of reality where when you actually try to put the national martial law scenario on paper you see its not really possible.


Now the queued up response to this is "they will use foreign troops" never mind there is little evidence of this.

And note the rapture like nature of this idea, these types are always looking out for these foreign military forces that are going to take us over.

martial law works like this: you run between the burning cars to get to the contaminated drinking water, and guys in uniforms shoot at you. Think of it as a real life video game, it will be fun!

It will never work, like the other person said and yes enough people will fight back especially here in America, we're fucking Americans come on. Plus the our (U.S.) troops will eventually team with the people against the Goverment. Half of them don't want to kill innocents of other countries let alone their own. Too many own guns and too many militias. So bring it on!!!

Martial law would mean a curfew for everyone, rationed food [maybe], limited travel by civilians and the court system would go on vacation (everything would be settled by military tribunal).

For the most part government does not interfere with our daily life. If government did try they would end up killing millions with plan stupidity and incompetence. Trucks would not move, food would not get where it needs to, and illness would not get treated.

Centralization does not work nor can it. Good information does not flow up in a centralized system, politically correct information flows up. In centralized systems performance does not matter, politically correctness.

This is why small business with a less educated workforce can kick butt on big business. It is where performance matters. This is where GM failed. It is where WalMart is starting to fail. And this is where our big government is failing.

I am not a government hater, this is just a reality of centralized systems. The more control the government has in day to day decisions the more really bad decisions are made. Add in self serving perspective and corruption and thing get bad quickly. Why do you thing the China is moving away from "party" based decision?

We did not win the cold war, central planning and decision making lost it.

It is rather amazing to speculate on the amount of damage an IED could to to a stationary aircraft or munitions dump.

You don't really think ALL the military will just "go along" do you?

Curfews, roadblocks and checkpoints, paramilitary guards (think Blackwater dudes) in urban areas. Use of robotic drones, sonic weapons, etc. for crowd control + tasers up close.

We can't even get our Supreme Court to halt unconstitutional TSA searches, how would we successfully revolt?
