Quoting: Anonymous Coward 969156We have to assume that Fukushima is on the same course [as Chernobyl]. If it doesn't get under control, it will be at least as bad as the worst case scenario for Chernobyl. Although, I expect those are highly conservative estimates. Perhaps the reason they aren't evacuating anyone from Japan is because the entire northern hemisphere, possibly the planet, is in danger of becoming toxic and a thousand miles around Japan may be rendered "uninhabitable." I'm not saying that is happening now, but perhaps that is the big risk if this situation continues to degrade. No sense in moving 37 million people someplace else to die a slow death. ... That's possible. Although I've never seen estimates of the magnitude of the explosion (a steam explosion, not nuclear) that would occur if / when the hot slag hits the water table. I am somewhat surprised we don't seem to have any such events yet. Have they succeeded by some other means of keeping it out of the water? So I don't know where Gorbachev got his estimate that all Europe would be uninhabitable. I would like to see that calculation. Another interesting question is why so little was done in the first days. Where was the huge international mobilization? And I don't mean the US Navy running away! . DON'T VAX, PROPHYLAX! ____________ There is no anger in Me: If one offers Me thorns and thistles, I will march to battle against him, And set all of them on fire. If you have a God or Deity or please begin to pray now Something Wicked This Way Comes. something always wicked this way comes, we always persist........as for the smart ones, thats a different story, i think this deal with japan is the new "brain-drain", i mean think about it, if anyone could out think, re manufacture and out resource hostile forces with superior technology, it would be the japanese, in the early 1800's japan didnt even know of the warfare uses of gunpowder, by the end of the 1800's they were teaching us new tricks of its uses. i mean they brought us the age of the micro-chip, (which many think was back-engineered off of alien technology) i mean lets just say that a hostile alien force sent us a "trojan horse" from downed space craft, if this were true and a attack was imminent, who would be best at figuring out how to beat them? the japanese. regardless if you believe in this or believe in that, it makes no difference though, this plight in japan has shown us once again that the robots/aliens rule, and humanity has failed, we have to always stay as sheep, and the japanese government, are definitely killing off their own people by keeping them mesmerized with deceit and bullshit propogated by the television and news broadcasts.....and those of you that say fuck 'em, remember, if it werent for the japanese you wouldnt be able to get on your computer and say fuck them without it. England had a "braindrain" in the 60's 70's many reported it had to do with a manned colony on mars, but who really knows....but here, this is a true "brain-drain"....not to menion a radioactive poisoning of our world, i say evacuate the place and nuke that damn powerplant before this gets any worse.......millions will die from this, along with a 5th of our oceans, if this continues much longer...........i'd rather have a brilliant glow in the dark japanese person in my country as to a dead culture that we lost due politics, propaganda , nor fear, open up the gates, give em detroit, michigan, (54% of the city is vacant) |

From a scientific point of view, I know your wrong. There is no way to stop the reactor from melting down after it has melted down and breached primary containment. It will keep burning through concert and ground until it hits a pocket of water, and then BOOM. You people should seriously watch the chernobly documentary sometime. Once you have melt down you must COOL THE FUEL. The Russians dug a tunnel under the reactor and made some sort of cooling room under it while from above they threw thousands upon thousands of lbs of LEAD and boric acid from a helicopter. Because reactor 3 is MOX and plutonium, it has a kill bubble zone around it. Kill zone meaning any exposure within 50 yards or so = almost instant death. Russians used thousands of thousands of volunteers called liquidators to first dig under their plant, pilots and crew to toss lead and boric accid from helicopter, and finally 8+ months later the reactor cooled enough that the molten fuel hardened and would not reach water table, it would have if the Russians didn't stop it. Here they have 6 reactors, no way of tunneling under them because the are all ready to close to the water table, they have more radiation to worry about than chernobly, there is a bigger instant kill zone bubble here. IMO all those rods have melted down to white hot lava and like sand through and hour glass just burning through ground letting off black smoke until they hit water table. It might be 3 weeks, in could be 2 months before they burn far enough down, but they will burn down... The concrete containment was breached... There is no stopping this. No one really knows how bad the explosion is going to be "its never happened before and the variables are different, IE how deep it is ect". I have seen lots of underground explosions of the Nevada Test site on google. They usually leave huge craters, and in the center radiation is high but there is no fall out because it was just a tiny amount of material used. In japan, we have tons and tons of plutonium. When it hits water and goes boom, all of the plutonium will go boom at once in a chair reaction. Scientists have no idea how big the blast is going to be. If I had to guess, its going to be like one of our best hydrogen bomb nukes going off times the weight of the spent fuel, plutonium, and uranium which basically means the entire island of japan is fucked. This is why we are at war with Libya, secure better strategic control of resources in the world, because we just lost Japan and their electronic money generating economy boosting powerhouse. IT was a major loss for the allies "Briton, France, Japan" which is why we had to go in and take Libya. Russia and China are in a very ODD position because they are right next door. And the fallout from this could very well fuck up generations of their youths through genetic mutations and cause hundreds of years of damage to their economy... China has a huge cheap socialist labor force.. Maybe they will step up and find volunteers to help put out the fire. But that would be china control of Japan, more pressure on the west... Another interesting question is why so little was done in the first days. Where was the huge international mobilization? And I don't mean the US Navy running away! I suspect nothing was done because nothing COULD be done at the time. The US has an enormous strategic investment in Japan, and they have the intel and satellites to determine exactly what is going on at the plants. I would assume if it could be resolved, they would have done so. I have a difficult time believing the US military would allow their bases to be jeopardize by a bunch of suits at TEPCO. This just doesn't make sense to me. I also find it odd that they struck out at Libya while ignoring this. It is almost as if Libya was in some way retaliation for what occurred in Japan. From the get-go, we have been given bad information. I don't accept that this thing went into meltdown for the want of some generators. If they could outfit helicopters with lead shielding, I am sure they could have gotten commercial generators brought in and placed on the rooftops. Since all the information coming out has been handled the same way (contradictions, outright lies, obfuscation, etc.), that leads me to believe that at no time did the situation change, because the handling of it did not change. I am left to believe that the containment vessels were cracked in the earthquake and there was no way to cool it down, so they didn't even try generators. If they were cracked, circulating water wouldn't help. I believe everything done was merely for show and it was fubar'd from the beginning. Just my hunch, but I suspect it was a total loss from day one. |

The truth is that millions will die within 6-9 months and the rest of us will live a game of chance as to whether or not we inhale fallout. The people seem resigned in Japan because they have nowhere to go and help is not arriving. The same is true of Florida. Everyone is in denial. The government and BP are colossal liars. I became sick from just swimming in a pool in Florida last summer. The dead marine life are scooped up at night and the newspapers don't print anything true or real. Florida wants the tourists even if they are killing them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1316817You are absolutely correct. I live on the gulf coast of Florida in Clearwater literally 10 minutes from the water. It smells. I mean, it. smells. bad. People can deny all they want. They can pretend that nothing is coming even though most of the state is in a drought condition that is drying up the aquifer and causing colossal collapse-and-fill problems with the sand and soil under Florida. I honestly have been preparing for this for some time even though most of my family, friends and comrades think I am absolutely fucking psycho. How unbelievably arrogant can people be. We have no real idea how many of the processes we have set into motion will end. All we can do is be aware of any eventuality. I am so sick of coming on here and reading comments from ignorant, prepubescent prats that have never had a hard day in their lives. This is reality, this is happening. I love all of you no matter the words we use on this forum. I just don't want to watch everyone suffer so needlessly. I am only 26 and have developed polyps on my lungs and lesions on my skin from swimming off of pier 60 in Clearwater. Many people in the area have as well. My father is a local firefighter and my mother is a nurse at Morton Plant Hospital. People are coming in with intense vomiting, skin irritation and respiratory complications. BP is killing us and you people dare laugh and doubt us. Sup, Gulf Cooooast! How you folks holdin' up over there? It doesn't bode well for the Gulf at all, and the folks who live there are going to continue to get pretty ill as time passes. I did some research on the Exxon Valdez spill, and I found out that the workers (save a few) all died before they turned fifty (or didn't live past fifty-five, can't remember which). I believe maybe two - at least one- lived to fifty-five. But they were all sick from the chemicals used in the spill clean-up (namely Corexit). In the Gulf's case, that same chemical is what's going to do it again. They're culling the earth's population, but most of the people aren't awake to what's going on. Japan's gettin' theirs. Their average life-span's going to take a dive, that's for sure. |

Not looking good in the world right now folks.... they do have the technology to tunnel under it,they have tunneling machines that have built all of the underground bases in the u.s. and europe, that can tunnel 5 to 15 miles worth of rock each day, they are built in england, and they resemble the machine used in the movie "the core".........we have the tech, they just wanna kill everyone instead....it's an elitist effort, what they need is a humanitarian effort......heres the link to pictures of the tunneling machines : [link to www.google.com] dont hate me because im a humanist. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1316079If he's an Aussie he hasn't been in the coutry for a long time. He sounds like an Irish, South African American. sounds south african to me The OP's video is "Restricted access" (ie banned) in japan. I can't see it. Would somebody like to give me a brief rundown of the salient points? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1312998This video is restricted in Japan? Can anyone confirm He sounds like an Aussie. I just visited his youtube channel (zorincash) and his listed country is Australia. This is the original, unedited video he posted about Japan. It's about 2 minutes longer than the other one. [link to www.youtube.com] I think he was a non english speaker who learnt English in Australia. So Australian with an accent. He does sound a little bit Sth African though. No way he's South African. Sarfies tend to intermix their English with some Afrikaans slang. He looks mixed race part Jap though so he's probably not got that pukka settler Aussie twang (sounds Aussie enough to me bar a few words). Which probably accounts for why he is so torn over the country's plight. |

That voice over by God only knows who, adds lots of extra tears and emotion in that any interpreter would not add. Not professional, and a real drama act. I smell BS on this video. But I believe the situation in Japan is serious. |
