A strong earthquake Monday was felt over a 175-mile swath of Alaska, including the state's largest city, but there were no immediate reports of damage beyond items knocked off shelves.

The Alaska and West Coast Tsunami Warning Center said the magnitude-5.8 earthquake occurred at about 4:45 p.m. and was centered about 30 miles northwest of Anchorage. The Alaska Earthquake Information Center said the center was 27 miles west of Anchorage.

Guy Urban, a geophysicist at the tsunami warning center, said the quake wasn't expected to generate a tsunami.

Hey Guys and Gals...

Shad... be careful out there, yesterday was a big day for them to be out and about cruising the net to find out where people are.

I official think we have dodged a big bullet.... missile.

That is not to say, i do think we are in for continuous earth changes of course... those will continue to ramp up.... especially meteorological

I do think we have dodged a chance for a complete flip.... i think i has tilted as far as it will..

I'm not going anywhere and if any new info comes my way, i will be sure to find a way to let you know.... i can never post word for word what comes my way from goats.

I read this on my local news this morning. I found it a bit odd. Troopers are getting assault rifles. The thing that made me sort of wonder about it is this line.

The Georgia State Patrol said it has not received a specific threat but believe the rifles are needed to launch a quick response.

The western edge is still empty. After the decent quakes we had yesterday up and down the eastern edge, to have such a lack of release on the other side, doesn't bode well.

Most smaller departments only had shot guns issued to their patrol officers. As we all know, the bad guys now have auto weapons and vastly out gun the police. That they are getting assault rifles really isn't that surprising and honestly isn't a big deal when you think about it.

Whiteangel, with that earthquake in Colo...yes keep an eye on Virginia. I was in Virginia when that last one hit dropping off daughter at college...was different to say the least!

Looking at the map, it is all east side earthquakes...not balanced

Well, if it ever comes to that, I'm headed to the hills with my family. My son was asking about what we would do if a war started here in America. I told him we would go to the mountains. HE asked why and I said it's in the woods and there are more places to hide. He then said okay sounds good.

Last year when EQ's were vast, the site I was on then quit counting anything under 6.5, we noticed that every time there was a quake in Colo, one happened in Virginia to the point it was a bit freaky.

I know many didn't believe Elenin was effecting us, but once it fell apart, the EQ's dropped substantially at the same time. Many thought it wasn't even Elenin but what was behind the comet - well, if that had of been the case, the EQ's would have continued and not stopped like they did when the comet didn't make it's crossing of the sun (darned if I can remember the correct term) and some even thought it was shot down (really??) You know when [link to quakes.globalincidentmap.com] isn't working right and you see all the quakes from last year? That was just one day!!!

Boy did I get off track...point was, during the above time, Colo and Virginia seemed to be linked, why I haven't a clue as they are not antipodal. Another great mystery that has gone unsolved.
