AKObserver User ID: 12817162 United States 04/20/2013 10:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ALERT! La Salle Nuclear Plant Nearly Took Out Chicago! The Stuff they don't tell us! Quoting: AKObserver Just posted ABOVE THRAEd you guys gotta reaD IT AND WATCH VIDEO Holy Crap! Unbelievable! Here is your thread link for others to find it. Thread: ALERT! La Salle Nuclear Plant Nearly Took Out Chicago! The Stuff they don't tell us! Much Love, Thanks TT Thought I should post it here this is serious shit! Chicago almost became a glowing radioactive sister city to Fukushima. Yesterday we broke the story of the La Salle Nuclear plant having to perform a Fukushima style direct-to-atmosphere venting of the primary nuclear containment due to a lightening strike. As we indicated at the time, the amount of radioactivity released is unknown because the radiation monitors were not on a backup power supply. (How Friggin' unbelievably convenient) Today in a follow on NRC event report, we find out that failures in the emergency cooling system resulted in the last ditch cooling attempt of directly venting the radioactive drywell to the atmosphere. The severity of those failures are underreported in the NRC event report, because it reads no different than if it the failures had been discovered during testing instead of being found out in the midst of a real life emergency resulting in the last ditch cooling effort of venting. We explain the situation in more detail in the video, but gist of the analysis is as follows. Lightning took out power to both reactors. Backup generators kicked on, but powering everything would overload them The systems which measure how much radiation is being vented from the plant did not have power. The reactors lost cooling capability. Automatic emergency cooling kicked in. The automated emergency cooling on Unit 2 was failing. As a last ditch effort, Unit 2 primary containment was vented to the atmosphere. The venting cooled and dropped the pressure in Unit 2 enough to compensate for the failing cooling. The camel was down to its last failing straw and only fractured its back; had it broken, Chicago would be aglow. Radioactive contamination did occur. Quoting: Vesper33 Oh my, now I just have to hope that the true doom holds off. I don't mention these things to him because he has worked so hard at an IB school, and he is so excited about the future. He has had enough doom already when the tornadoes hit in 2011 (lost everything he owned), and then lost his best friend in the January tornado in 2012. He is very spiritual, but still I can't lay the issues we discuss here on him. He is 18, and I hope life to go. Thank you guys for letting me share this! That is just the coolest!!! Description The highly pathogenic avian flu (H1N1) virus has been detected at one of the biggest poultry farms in Chitwan in a recent case of bird flu outbreak. Authorities have confirmed the disease at Laxmi Rana's poultry farm in Godrang of Bharatpur. The confirmation came after the outbreak claimed about 30,000 of the total 70,000 fowls at the farm. After the Central Veterinary Laboratory confirmed the disease, a rapid response team from the district livestock office of Chitwan and the National Bird Disease Research Laboratory reached the farm and started its operation from Friday night itself. According to the sources, till Saturday afternoon, the team has culled 11,289 fowls at the three-storey farm building. They will start culling the remaining fowls in the two other floors of the building from Saturday evening and the farm will be cleaned by Sunday. Though a bird flu team had reached the poultry farm earlier upon receiving information from locals regarding a possible bird flu outbreak, the owner had refused to cooperate until April 15, when specimens of the dead fowls were sent to the Central Livestock Laboratory for test. According to NBDRL chief Bodhnath Adhikari, besides Rana's farm the disease has also been detected at Rajendra Hamal's farm in Mangalpur. Over 3,200 fowls have reportedly been culled and 260 kg chicken feed and 240 eggs were destroyed at Hamal's farm on Friday night itself. Meanwhile, small poultry farm operators have accused big farm owners of being reluctant to report any outbreak to authorities fearing great loss. "In case there is an outbreak they don't inform the concerned authorities and manage the dead fowls themselves," they alleged. While office senior veterinary of the district livestock office Dr Tej Bahadur Rijal is leading the rapid response team, Dr Dayaram Chapagain of NBDRL is in charge of the surveillance team. Regarding the recent outbreak, Chief District Officer Himnath Dawadi urged commoners to take precautions to stay safe. Chitwan, the biggest hub for production of chicken, boasts of 60 per cent of the total chicken produce in the country. It is said there are over two million fowls kept in the various poultry farms of the district. Biohazard name: H1N1 (highly pathogenic avian flu) Biohazard level: 4/4 Hazardous Biohazard desc.: Viruses and bacteria that cause severe to fatal disease in humans, and for which vaccines or other treatments are not available, such as Bolivian and Argentine hemorrhagic fevers, H5N1(bird flu), Dengue hemorrhagic fever, Marburg virus, Ebola virus, hantaviruses, Lassa fever, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, and other hemorrhagic or unidentified diseases. When dealing with biological hazards at this level the use of a Hazmat suit and a self-contained oxygen supply is mandatory. The entrance and exit of a Level Four biolab will contain multiple showers, a vacuum room, an ultraviolet light room, autonomous detection system, and other safety precautions designed to destroy all traces of the biohazard. Multiple airlocks are employed and are electronically secured to prevent both doors opening at the same time. All air and water service going to and coming from a Biosafety Level 4 (P4) lab will undergo similar decontamination procedures to eliminate the possibility of an accidental release. Symptoms: Status: confirmed Well That's just great! [link to hisz.rsoe.hu] |

AKObserver User ID: 38600563 United States 04/21/2013 07:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | China's quake zone between tectonic plates THE area of southwestern China struck by a violent tremor on Saturday has witnessed some of the world's deadliest earthquakes. THE SITE OF CHINA'S LATEST EARTHQUAKE SITS ON THE BORDER OF THE INDIAN AND ASIAN TECTONIC PLATES. AAP The area sits on the boundary between two of the earth's tectonic plates, the Indian and Asian plates, which are constantly grinding against each other. The region is unusual geologically because of the steep slopes at the boundary between the Sichuan Basin and the Tibetan plateau, according to seismologists. The elevation rises by about 3,500 metres over only about 50 kilometres. Earthquakes are frequent along the fringes of the Tibetan plateau, which was raised when India collided into Eurasia starting some 50 million years ago. It is this powerful thrust that created the Himalayas and its highest peak, Mount Everest, which reaches 8,848 metres. The mountains continue to reach skyward to this day, propelled by unstable tectonic terrain. The deadliest earthquake to rock the Tibetan plateau in the 20th century was in 1920 when 230,000 people died in Gansu province. Another quake measuring 8.0-magnitude struck Sichuan in May 2008 leaving nearly 87,000 dead or missing. Jiang Haikun, an official with the China Earthquake Networks Centre's forecasting department, said Saturday's quake was formed in the same way as the 2008 quake. Both quakes occurred on the Longmen mountain fault zone, which tended to produce powerful tremors along a 500-kilometre-long belt, he said. [link to www.heraldsun.com.au] |
