Description
Three days of heavy rain have flooded hundreds of homes in eastern and central Macedonia, destroyed at least two bridges and cut off dozens of villages, causing power cuts and shortages of drinking water. The National Crisis Management Center said Tuesday that about 20,000 people were without electricity in the central town of Sveti Nikole, and thousands of hectares of cultivated fields were inundated. The nearby Pistica dam was described as being in a "critical" situation, with authorities concerned it could collapse and flood the area with more than 800,000 cubic meters of water. Roughly 300 homes were flooded in the village of Josifovo alone, 100 kilometers south of the capital Skopje, and the fire brigade was evacuating elderly residents. Meteorologists forecast that the rain would stop on Thursday.

Tornado in USA on Wednesday, 27 February, 2013 at 04:02 (04:02 AM) UTC.

Description
A tornado touched down in downtown Tampa late Tuesday morning, damaging the roof of a Harbour Island hotel and ripping through the Channelside District, as a line of showers and storms passed through west-central Florida. According to the National Weather Service, a waterspout developed just after 11 a.m. in the channel between Harbour Island and Davis Island. It moved onshore as a small (EF0) tornado along the northern shore of Harbor Island, tearing off sections of roof covering at the Westin Tampa Harbourside Hotel. Packing winds of 65 to 85 mph, the waterspout/tornado continued down the channel between the Tampa Bay Times Forum and Harbour Island and moved through the Channelside District before lifting just east of the Florida Aquarium. Damage also was reported to building awnings, business signs, condo furniture, light poles, street signs and five vehicles. [link to hisz.rsoe.hu]

Description
One person has been killed after flooding engulfed parts of Macedonia. The flooding was triggered by days of heavy rain, which has been heaviest in the north and east of the country. Hundreds of residents had to be evacuated from their homes, as the waters rose. Power cuts affected tens of thousands of people. The man who died was swept away as he tried to cross a river near the northern town of Kumanovo. The fast flowing rivers also destroyed bridges, which completely cut off a village. The authorities are concerned that the force of the water may cause the Pistica dam in eastern Macedonia to collapse. The rains have been caused by the same system that flooded Athens five days ago. The system is forecast to move eastwards over the next few days, and the rains should ease on Thursday.
