Quoting: shlapLike 6thousand years ago... there were no doctors and crap back then. And look at us now. All that time ago heads where not that big due to developed brains. But you proberly did not know that? As woman do grow bigger to be able to bear a child naturally, the fashion and men do want us to be thin. Which in turn makes us unable to do it naturally. By the way.. That time ago they pulled teeth without pain relief. are you going all natural and mideval on your dentals? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1448156 United States 06/29/2011 01:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How is it unbelievable? People do home-births all the time. It's funny how we are supposed to be advancing as a species yet there is this yearning to go back to a time when we were simple. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1427971My wife gave birth to both of my children without the aid of drugs... nothing to take the edge off and nothing to even stuff out. She was a trooper. Not a yelp and not a whimper. To this day, to me, she epitomizes strength. All pregnancies and deliveries are different. Just because you wife did it naturally does not mean she is stronger than someone who did not. And why is it a pissing contest anyway? Do you or your wife want a pat on the back? A medal, or does the smug satisfaction of feeling like you're better than everyone else suffice? Either way, you're still a d-bag |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 102035 United States 06/29/2011 01:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Her uterus is now wide open and flushed with all the germs in her bath tube. Great for a home movie but bad for mommas health. She could easily get sepsis and be in mortal danger. I'm not saying that a Hospital is the best place but the bath tub is a horrible option. We're terrestrial beings, not aquatic. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1435813Actually, we may be descended from a semi-aquatic species as, unlike all other primates, we have -- a diving reflex; subcutaneous fat (useful for retaining body heat in water), greatly reduced body hair; and nostrils which are designed to prevent water from entering when submerged (well, there is one monkey with a nose like that, fittingly called the Proboscis Monkey, and guess what -- it swims). A researcher named Elaine Morgan wrote some very interesting books about our possible lives in warm-water intertidal zones. Lots of advantages there -- ability to retreat into the water to avoid land predators and ability to retreat onto land to avoid water predators; excellent sources of nutrition in the intertidal zone (shellfish, seaweeds, etc), easily harvested; sanitation is taken care of by the tides, etc. etc. She was shut down by mainstream male scientists who cannot let go of their investment into protohumans living on the savannah and getting eaten by lions in a harsh and unforgiving environment. That's just so much more -- manly. Her book "The Aquatic Ape" is very interesting, she also has some things to say about mating (face to face, unlike other primates) and delivering the baby and how our bodies are adapted to a water delivery. Check it out. The best way to prepare water for a birth is to make it saline. Easy and effective. Aquatic... yes. Descended from monkeys... NO! |

We're terrestrial beings, not aquatic. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1435813Perhaps you need a history lesson? The only way water could go up inside her is if she laid down and let it get in. Surely you have bathed or swam before? In an upright position with a placenta covering the cervix, no water will get into her uterus. lol.. "The placenta covering the cervix..." In a normal pregnancy the placenta does NOT cover the cervix....and if it is, the baby would not be able to be born vaginally!! A c-section would be necessary. The placenta comes out AFTER the baby. And yes bathwater CAN lead to infections during labor. Prior to labor it is safe for the mom to be to bath or swim because the mucus plug is in place - in the cervix, and blocking the uterus from any possible infections.....but at the beginning of labor the mucous plug is dislodged, as the cervix begins to dilate......now...women do labor/deliver in water, and 99% of the time it is fine - no infections, no problems, but it IS possible. Oh I forgot you're the EXPERT! No shit Sherlock!! In case you missed it in the video the baby came out...and what comes out after it? Yeah the placenta. So since the placenta is rather large and the cervix rather small, I'm gonna say it covers it. Placenta previa would be a whole different ballgame and I don't think she would be giving birth at home if that were the case. I never said it wasn't possible, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that MOST if not ALL women that give birth underwater fill their tubs with CLEAN WATER!! I doubt they go out and dip it from a pond or a ditch. Please stop making yourself look foolish! In your post you said, "In an upright position with the placenta covering the cervix".....the placenta could NOT have been covering the cervix in this video or the baby would not have been able to be born vaginally. You said it...then try to say you didn't..but whatever.. "Live each day like it's your last, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching." GO PATS!! :Go Patriots!: |

I feel sorry for your children having to put up with you for a mother! God Bless and save them!! Oh really. Do go on...and on...and on... Nice comeback. That all your rental brain could think of? Please, tell us of all the medical advancements, we'd love to hear about them. And on...and on...and on... Who am I to stop you from your know-it-all rantings? |

If Mother and baby are happy and healthy it's a job well done. Like the mother in the video, of which you felt the need to jump in and criticize. Hypocrite! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1294961Oh my fault, this thread IS your life. Telling us how to have babies and shit IS your life. Can you know-it-alls scan your medical degrees and post? Otherwise, you're just idiots talking out your ass on GLP. Guess it's your life too huh? Don't you have anything better to do than make an ass of yourself all day? Shouldn't you be helping your kids kick their drug habits? They moved up from shrooms to weed. I'm proud of them! Maybe I should bake a pan of weed brownies to commemorate this special occasion. Thanks for the tip. It's your best yet. |
