Quoting: Catman 1471027The politicians and others who are part of the ruling class robbed people of their money, handed it over to the corporations/banks which they support, and promised this would improve the economy. Their 'trickle down' economy has worked terribly. |

Just Me User ID: 1443283 United States 07/18/2011 12:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, our taxes (all) food, energy have doubled if not tripled since 2000 while wages stagnant and falling. My wages are still 40% less than I earned in 2000 and have been underemployed (not utilizing all skill sets/education/experience) for the past 11 years, but do have employment although I do realize I am underpaid for the duties I do perform, but not underpaid considering the direction the economy is taking, does that make sense? Health insurance premiums have tripled. Housing skyrocketed and crashed and continues to crash. Banks are insolvent but pretending not to be via phony digits on account. There are few living wages jobs available, and the ones that are available are either top-tier or bottom of the barrel --- very few in-between. The trades people are sitting on the books going years without any meaningful employment. IMHO: Our Congress is giving away digits for free to the top, foreign countries and starving the bottom out of their homes, their energy, their food and any meaningful participation in the economy. Welfare has skyrocketed, unemployment has skyrocketed, wars have skyrocketed. Our family has continued to downsize for the past 11 years, with no relief in sight. We continue yearly to cut our budget where ever we can, and we both work FT and no sooner do we cut our budget, and we get hit up with additional expenses, can not get ahead, past 11 years we've just been threading water, playing catch up with the additional inflation in the economy. Raises? We feel fortunate just to have employment. We've adjusted our expectations more than once, downwards, and keep adjusting downwards. I don't know how far down we're going to have to go. I guess we'll have to give up our last few goodies, which aren't much, but they gave our lives purpose. Next stop: No purpose in life anymore but to slave away to continue to just have the bare basics, pay taxes, and die. This is not living, this is just basic survival: stay alive, breath, work, repeat. Many people are in this boat world-wide and sinking fast. Criminality has skyrocketed in all areas of the economy. This list could go on and on. That's how well the trickle-down effect has been going from my observations and opinion. |
