What does 178 X Background Radiation mean?

I gave this thread a Shit Star because my question wasn't answered.

I have been staying out the rain here since March. I won't even let my dog go out in it. She just has to cross her legs and wait for the runoff to thin out.

We all knew this was going to happen. Its just going to keep getting worse and spreading all over. Fukushima Has been leaking radiation since March, and still is. What makes you think its just going to go away..

2,400CPM = 1 mR/hr
1.78 mR/hr * 2400 CPM = 4272 CPM

so that would be about 4272 CPM (Counts Per minute)

anything over 100 CPM is considered Alert Level:

Alert Level means Radiation is above normal background levels.

Keep in mind that is accumulated radioactive dust/grime. He took a large surface, concentrated the surface grime then tested it. It is a great way to see if there is radiation in your area but you really can't compare it to background. It needs to be compared to other cars wiped down in different states which read zero.

This is bad if it is a true test regardless.
