Anonymous Coward User ID: 1508134 United States 08/20/2011 01:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is awful, and I feel bad for people with very young chldren who might feel the effects more than the adults, according to the experts on another thread. Quoting: ArnieYah and the sad thing is people will start giving birth to fucked up kids in the next couple of months, and they'll still blame it on some other shit.... |
RadDude User ID: 1511442 United States 08/20/2011 01:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What does 178 X Background Radiation mean? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1451386I gave this thread a Shit Star because my question wasn't answered. I will answer for you 2,400CPM = 1 mR/hr 1.78 mR/hr * 2400 CPM = 4272 CPM so that would be about 4272 CPM (Counts Per minute) anything over 100 CPM is considered Alert Level: [link to www.radiationnetwork.com] Alert Level means Radiation is above normal background levels. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1451386Keep in mind that is accumulated radioactive dust/grime. He took a large surface, concentrated the surface grime then tested it. It is a great way to see if there is radiation in your area but you really can't compare it to background. It needs to be compared to other cars wiped down in different states which read zero. This is bad if it is a true test regardless. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1512610 United States 08/20/2011 02:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Could just be a small pocket moving through, the real question is how long will St. Louis remain at this level.. Here is the radiation page I trust most, and have never seen over 60 cpm at ground level yet, but it's possible.. [link to www.radiationnetwork.com] |
I go to the EPA website User ID: 1512572 United States 08/20/2011 02:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not that they're completely trustworthy, but they will show spikes, but the damn thing shuts down a lot for 'maintenance' or whatever. [link to www.epa.gov] Of course, it wasn't up and running today for St. Louis. I'm shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you. |
