Man, I just read that and I have NO IDEA what they're saying. I can't make out one thing in that article.

What lifeboat? And what about returning in the daylight? What the fuck are they talking about????

Maybe I need to de-frag my brain and try that again. But can anyone make sense of this rhetoric?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1513651

As recently as the mid-90's, Khazakistan had no computers. Or rather, they had the equipment sitting on tables, but no electricity to run them. I met a fellow teacher who, along with her husband, were part of a team which was sent there to help them "get up to speed" with computer literacy. This was in 1994, and they had just recently returned. Maybe that's why they need to have the shuttles come back in the daylight. Also, daylight would make it easier to find them if they drifted off course.

And as far as the "lifeboat", wouldn't you want to have SOME possibility of getting back just in case? For some reason those "lifeboats" have an expiration date. Perhaps their electronics deteriorate from having the direct sunlight beating on them all the time (no filtration of rays by atmosphere or shielding since they are outside).

Ya, me too, it's refreshing.
All things concidered, Progress failure, crew escape windows via docked soyuz capsule,Dooom outlines. It's at the least suspect, almost troubling.I wounder, are the launch vehicles for the Soyuz and progress the same? it is mentioned earlier in thread there "alike". but are they the same? I ask only to clarify "there" thought's on cancelation of all aspects of ISS access.
The ISS being vacant is a big deal. (The robot is only and exterior device. not meant for, "flipping switches" as it were.) Pretty sure the "Ifs" will work out.
For NASA, it's all about the schedule/timeline. Quite the oversite. Haveing to Souyuz there for escape/return that expire so close together on the calendar. What woulda happened if the planned Progres went of without a hitch, but the next Soyuz failed? They woulda lost the remaining crew of the ISS as well as the crew of the failed Soyuz.
Space X's Dragon is spose to dockfor the first time on Nov.20th. Pretty big eventto not have scheduled a valid time line.
I'm not in the know. I do know one of my favorite sayings is "Timing is everything." And the timeing of this kinda stinks. I'm just saying.
Perspective is everything.

Some comets are like old friends, they keep coming back at regular intervals to visit. These are called periodic comets; Comet Halley was the first such comet to be identified, by Edmond Halley back in 1705. It returns to the inner solar system every 75 to 76 years; its last appearance was in 1986 and its next will be in 2061. At present Halley is out just beyond Neptune’s orbit.

From what I have been reading supplies are not the problem -at least for the time being.

The soyuz capsules currently docked at the ISS are only certified to be in space for 200 days. The three Russians are due to return home on the first one next month - no problem there.

The certificate on the second capsule expires in mid November, when the remaining three crew members are currently due to return home. Unless that expiry date can be extended or a fresh crew is sent up before Novemeber, that is why the ISS must be abandoned.

Looks like the US government's decision to scrap the shuttles before a replacement is ready, is coming back to bite them in the arse sooner than expected.

Remember how brave these astronauts are, not afaid of much.
Ya know riding on top of a couple hundred feet of high explosives, a million part machine built by the lowest bidders, living in a vacuum where the smallest pebble(at 30K mph) could ruin your day.
Stay in the ISS as the 'canary in the mineshaft' would not be an unexpected honor for one these guys.

I wouldn't wait for 'all' of them to be removed SickScent...
And the perfect 'head fake' would be to leave occupants in the ISS knowing whats coming.

Sounds like a great excuse to bring the astro's back home before TEOTWAWKI.
I saw Sickscent post earlier..Chad what do you indeed think about this development?

I was told (and some here remember GLP being told) that this is the exact 'type' of things we would see occurring. But, we shouldn't jump at everything that seems a little odd.

But, IMO, this seems a LOT odd. Things add up, and to disregard that we were told that we would begin seeing some of this stuff taking place...

I remember Boeing Guys words...he said look for ISS to have no one on it. Of course they would give excuses, and not any 'real' information.

So, I am going to wait until ALL crew is removed. When that is a fact, and no one is sitting up there...THAT is unprecedented, and should be examined very closely.

China’s New Space Station Plans Released

The China manned space engineering office has released plans for a 60 ton space station made up of three capsules and a cargo transport for supplies. It looks like it might be public friendly as well as they have asked for suggestions for names for the space station.

Chinese Space Station

The space station core module will be 18.1 m long with a diameter of 4.2 m and a launch weight of around 20 to 22 tons. This capsule will be the first to be launched. Following on from this the two experimental modules will be connected with the core module. Each one of these laboratory modules is 14.4 m long with the other dimensions the same as the core module.

On a comparison with the international space station (419 tons) the Chinese one will be quite small. Russia’s Mir space station weighed 137 tons.

If you would like to submit a suggestion for the name of the space station it should be sent before May 20 via www.cmse.gov.cn or e-mailed to [email protected].

They are also taking suggestions for the name of the cargo ship and this should be submitted before May 20 by the same route.
Chinese Astronauts

Chinese Astronauts

China has entered its second phase of its manned space program and according to the schedule the space module Tiangong-1 and the Shenzhou VIII spacecraft will be launched in the latter half of this year. This will be the first unmanned rendezvous and docking mission. Shenzhou IX and Shenzhou X will be launched next year to dock with Tiangong-1.

There are a few problems though such as the development of technology that would guarantee that space missions could be 20 days long.

Saw this on FOX news, so no link yet. Basically, they said the ISS would be abandoned beginning on September 16th through October or even November. The main cause is the lack of supplies because of the crash of the supply rocket in Russia.

In light of the Elenin / Nibiru theories for the coming fall, one could easily say, "How convenient?"

Basically, effective Sep 16, there will be no humans in space. I think I'll go celebrate by watching Apollo 18.

Holy cow! I'd totally spaced out about the Chinese. (pun?) Seriously, if China WERE to somehow build a base on the moon (and they are the only ones with enough money to do that at this point) what makes you think that they would LET anyone else land there ever again? Or, if they did allow it, it would be with THEIR permission and with THEIR very close oversight, if not total control.

Maybe the Chinese will "collect" on our debt, and grab the ISS as part of the "collateral". Then they could join it with theirs, doubling its' size without all of the expense of having to ship all that material out to space, and end up with a year's supply of food to sweeten the bargain.
