Foreknowledge of the San Diego blackout??
I live in San Diego and experienced the mysterious blackout on Thursday. Now I know that people in the East lose power all the time due to storms for days at a time. But, it was especially unnerving here because of the simultaneous (and instantaneous) loss of cell phone service and all landline phones, and all but two AM radio stations.

So, today I was cleaning up my stack of newspapers from the week, and I noticed last Sunday's paper, which I had never gotten around to reading.

Look at what I found....right on the FRONT page.

A HUGE gate-fold advertisement from our power company, SDGE, warning us "what we should do to prepare for an emergency."

And what is even stranger is the words on the back of the gate-fold:

"There's safety in numbers."

Here are some pictures I took of the paper so that you all can see the ad, and the date (Sept. 4th) on the front of the paper.

Main Ad:

[link to i294.photobucket.com]

Backside of Ad:

[link to i294.photobucket.com]

Closeup of date on front page:

This has really got the hair standing up on the back of my neck, and really got me thinking. What if this was some kind of test-run, psy-op type of experiment?

Maybe I spend too much time at GLP??

Discuss!

OP...good find. I think you're right. I'm in San Diego too. I was listening to one of those AM stations during the outage and a police officer/sheriff was being interviewed and he
said "we've been training for this for a long time" the police were happy with the civility. I thought it was odd that he said "training for this" rather then, say for example "our disaster preparedness office is ready for any emergency...blah, blah, blah...

Re: Foreknowledge of the San Diego blackout??
You know what is funny is I have that newspaper in my room. I was driving around on that Sunday and I normally don't buy a newspaper he asked me and he knew i didn't want one. Then the dude starts talking about my car how wore it was. He asks how old I said it was like 8 years,he says nice I like that. I go on about how I do care about cars, rims, etc etc. Then he goes and says "Yeah me to It a fucking waste of time". I was like in my head FUCK YEAH. So I tell the dude hey man I'm gonna buy that newspaper just for showing me their are still people out here that know what is up. I told him I was suppose to meet him and drove off with a big ass fucking smile.

Now the newspaper has a real story and it is sitting to my right in my room. When the power went out here. I was walking around the whole city. I enjoyed the stars, sky and just nothingess. I have no fear of any man anymore. So as I stood in the middle of the road. I heard absoulte nothing and if i wanted to I could of laid down on that road an slept. It was like being in a dream and I was the last person on the planet.
Except I wasn't afraid and i felt LOVE

Then the power came back on and I was dissappointed with it because I wish someone was their with me. They where watching their foosball foosball. We got fucking nature entertainment that no fucking movie star can handle OUTSIDE!! COme on I understand the movies and all that jazz. Seriously get back to outside man. I haven't walked in ages. I walk now. I never noticed bugs. I noticed that shit. So did the guys from the past. They learned from fucking nature see it is all here it was always here. We diluted convolute it with distractions demons you call them. God is us We are Gods we are the SUPERHEROES in the comic books. They are US. The one that keep us down know that and they keep suppressing us ever damn fucking damn.

It is simple we all have the fucking brains we just need to stop the bullshit and LOVE ourselves man.
LOVE OUR FUCKING SELF
DO NOT FEAR YOURSELF
PLEASE for the sake of everyone

I wanna do some shit okay now I got this fucking awesome super duper fantastic energy. I want people to feel it man.
IT IS REAL
IT IS GOD
MY MIND IS IN HEAVEN
Not the bible
Get it
SIMPLE
KRS - ONE says it

You may be on to something OP. I'm amazed that this occurance has been downplayed despite its scope. This was huge and far-reaching. I've yet to hear a good explanation beyond the equivelent of "Someone tripped over the chord".

If it's that easy to take a major swath of the grid out just like that, I'm suprised we're not dead/mad max by now.

Ironic that this all happened leading up to all the hoopla around 9/11. Seems like an ideal time if you want to test, keep the fear factor high but also want it to go away and not question wtf just happened.

It could be one of a few things, such as seeing how we would react or they are just preparing because they knew we would have a power outage due too the excessive heat and everyone was using their ac.

Yes.

And I made the mistake of starting to read the novel "One Second After" by Willaim Forstchen the very next day.

It makes my blood run cold.

Rolling blackouts are a well understood phenomena, where a single problem on the grid can cause overloads everywhere, with cautionary shutdowns. The interdependency of electric grids is also not new, nor limited to the San Diego area. In an effort to service the needs of the public, especially during times when heavy use of air conditioning might be required, utilities have formed virtual spiderwebs of connections to allow for ALTERNATIVE sources. However, this structure also allows for the entire spiderweb to go down, simultaneously, where a problem develops anywhere on the web, what is known as a rolling blackout to protect equipment from excessive demand, i.e. from a brownout. What is notable here is NOT that there was an outage, at a time when the Summer heat was not exceptional, as equipment failure or human error is always present as a possibility. What is notable here is the warning issued by the establishment in San Diego - “If you have a personal family emergency plan, please activate it now.”

Since blackouts will increasingly be a problem as the tail of Planet X will on occasion whip the Earth during the magnetic contortions in their magnetic dance, what will this mean to those regions that have become accustomed to the electric grid or a stable electric flow? Equipment failure at the least, rolling blackouts primarily, and when grids are peppered with failures caused by electro-magnetic surges caused by the charged tail of Planet X, a permanent loss of the grid. Now what. This is what city managers across the US and increasingly around the globe have been warned to anticipate, though the reason for the warning has been postured as a terrorism threat or a massive solar flare. They have been told to prepare for a long-term, essentially a permanent loss of the grid.

At first this is treated like a picnic, school is out, workers taking leave from their jobs, and supper by candle-light. But blackouts that linger will lead to looting and hospitals and clinics struggling to meet medical emergencies. Was San Diego suggesting that their public prepare to leave the city? Family Emergency Plans are primarily a way of making sure family members FIND each other, at designated spots, and have on hand a limited supply of medicines any family member may need. Short-term food and water supplies are usually also included. San Diego was, at a minimum, suggesting that its public prepare for HOURS of an outage, but in that the Sun was up for hours after the grid failure, such a warning seems extreme.

What the San Diego emergency did was give a glimpse into what cities are prepared to do, should the tail of Planet X create long-term emergencies in cities. They are NOT planning on housing and feeding their citizens. They are planning on putting the responsibility of survival on each citizen, on each family, and then they are on their own. Do you not have a Family Emergency Plan? Tisk. We TOLD you to have one! This will be the attitude of the establishment when such emergencies do arrive. We have advised that families plan to leave the cities, and have a place to go when the time arrives, a rural area, where they have established contacts at a minimum. You will be ON YOUR OWN when the time comes, and it may come sooner than you think. Are you ready?

Wow - very interesting.

It was the instant loss of communications that was very distressing. After finally finding one of two radio stations broadcasting and hearing Obama's speech as it was happening live, I was relieved! It meant we probably were not under attack...LOL.

However, several radio jockeys mentioned the proximity to the 9/11 anniversary, and how scary that made this experience.

Also, when they held the radio press conference at 8:30 and read the SDGE statement about "activating your emergency plan" really freaked me out. It sounded extreme, but they did say it could take two or three days to get power back. Also, it was vbery, VERY hot for us in SD. In the upper 90's.

Interesting, an anti-terrorism team conducted "several" exercises during the week of the blackout in San Diego Bay...

September 10, 2011

SAN DIEGO -- An anti-terrorism team from the U.S. Coast Guard scheduled law enforcement training exercises in south San Diego Bay on Saturday.

As the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks approaches, the U.S. Coast Guard advised of Saturday's drill so it will not be mistaken for an actual security operation.

Several similar operations were held in the same area during the week.

That is interesting.

I also read this today:

[link to www.signonsandiego.com]

Michael Shames of the Utility Consumers’ Action Network, a critic of the power company, said the issue is likely broader than the incident in Yuma.

“We know that (alone) couldn’t have taken the San Diego system down,” he said. “Something else must have happened.”

Shames, the utility consumers’ advocate, said even if problems with grid operations are resolved through technological advances, regulators must find out why telecommunications, water and sewage networks were disrupted more than usual.

“These are important questions, almost as important as what caused the electrical outage,” he said. “The stakes are really high now.”
