Are there any extreme metalheads in the house tonight?

Cool, but their newer stuff hasn't been so hot, in contrast to some of the other back from the dead bands. Too bad exhorder finally called it quits too after their almost new album.

Oh come on. Megadeth is so classic, esp. this album. Little bit a lull from Countdown to Endgame maybe though, but I did like Cryptic Writings.

But let's not forget the greatest of all:

Yeah, I love old In Flames. One of the first death metal bands I started listening to. Whoracle is my favorite. I actually think all their albums are pretty good, except Reroute and the last couple. I'm pretty open minded about new styles. Reroute was a little too much synth and the production on the last two is so tinny compared to their original sound, but there have still been good moments on all their albums. I thought Soundtrack to Escape and Come Clarity were actually both really good overall. But the Jester Race through Clayman era I think is the golden age. I remember when Clayman came out people were saying they sold out cause some of the riffs had a "new metal" vibe or something. We were more closed minded back then. Little did anyone know how different they'd become afterwards. Anyway, still a good band. Jesper left the band for personal reasons. Here's a song from his new band:

I don't completely HATE their newer music as much as some do, but I miss their old sound so much. I'd kill to have just one more album in that style.

Also I never really understood the complaints about Clayman (it's actually my favorite In Flames album) ,it, to me was natural progression. Don't ask me what happened after that though.

Is Christian Black Metal an oxymoron?

YES!!! Good psychedelic black metal!

IMO it's hard to blend black metal with other (non-metal)types of music without it sounding kind of silly, but they do it beautifully.
