I read on a tabloid she escaped to Mexico to evade the Florida gestapo. Costa Rica would be better.

I've never heard of a state legally charging investigation costs. They should investigate all the cops who lost the case instead.

How can you charge an investigation to someone that the system found not guilty?

i know there are a lot of haters of her out there, but the judicial system played their hand and lost. Seems to me she can fight this and win on that basis alone.

She was found guilty of lying to the cops.. She made tons of people waste time looking for a kid she knew was dead. she knew the kid was dead because her story changed to "she drown in the pool and my daddy made me go along with hiding the body" she's paying for lying to the cops and what not.

I should imagine the rights to the newspaper exclusive / documentary / book / movie to come will leave a fair bit of change? The judge probably knew that when he decided. Aint life a kick in the teeth?

Not common practice, but when someone knowingly leads on a wild goose chase, it's happened before that they are charged by Law enforcement (and WHY preytell should the tax payers foot the bill for miss bitch liar?).

Personally I think it is BS that they would charge back "Investigation Costs" to anybody.

This kind of policy can easily be abused against just about anybody that the Cops or Prosecutors would have a vendetta against since they can ALWAYS find you guilty of something, even if it is only a Minor Misdemeanor.

It would work something like this:

"You plead guilty to a Minor Misdemeanor ... so NOW YOU OWE US $500,000 for investigating you for 2 years, using hundreds of hours of police time, for things that we never charged you with .... but we did find you had an outstanding unpaid parking fine during that investigation so we are now charging you for ALL the Investigation Expenses of those 2 years"
