Hiya mikey, i will try to explain.

When i use quakemapnz from my phone it appears a bit different to when i used the laptop

From the phone, it doesn't show the quakes on the actual nz map, like it should

And i cant seem to scroll down the list of quakes i can only see the visible list.

And of course the problem is worse if i widen the parameters, so i don't know how many quakes have been for each day, if i dont check it all the time.


I so wish i could print out the quakes daily and there is a big gap in my info because i cant do that.

I am a learner in this computer world, a total novice i'm afraid.

(giggle) Yeah, my WHOLE family knows way more than I do, but they're all off doing other things. Lot's of stuff I do, I started out with very basic instruction and had to learn by trial and error! I'll get it, but life has to calm down a little. I made sure the kids learned how to use the computer early on, but with 5 people on one compter at the time, there wasn't time for me to learn. Now it's my turn, but yougest son is the best on the computer and he's off to community college and work. Thx for the encouragement! It helps!

There have been regular 3+ mag quakes bottom west coast south island too, where the plate boundary is.

November 18, 2011 –NEW ZEALAND –Two strong earthquakes struck off the east coast of the North Island in New Zealand on early Friday evening, seismologists said. The quakes erupted as a result of tension between the Australian and Pacific tectonic plates. There were no reports of damage or casualties. The first earthquake at 4.34 p.m. local time (0434 GMT) measured 5.8 on the Richter scale and was centered about 140 kilometers (87 miles) east of Tikitiki, a small town about 100 kilometers (62 miles) northeast of Gisborne. It struck about 33 kilometers (20 miles) deep, making it a shallow earthquake. Several hours later, at 7.51 p.m. local time (0751 GMT), a stronger earthquake measuring 6.1 (6.0 USGS) on the Richter scale struck the same area at a depth of 40 kilometers (25 miles), according to the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GeoNet), the country’s seismological

TG what you can do is change the dates on the quakemap ie make it for the last two days and see where they are.

I see a lot of weird activity happening on geonet, however put in a bit of perspective.

I am part of a scientific earthquake watch group on FB. I would add a link but it is a closed group.

They are discussing these quakes but don't seem alarmed in the least.

Do share, what are they saying? I guess they are noticing the swarm and thinking cool, earth in action...or is that just me? LOL

it looks like most of them are to the east, off the side of te araroa. many quakes in that area.
