WOW that's fucked up.. In that that second video on fox news, when the reporter asked the guy about the dangers in the air, he "couldn't hear her" and then went to "lost connection"..

Well, crap. The worst area is where I happen to live...
 Quoting: AlcoholicRunner

I'm not in the plume yet, but am getting some burning plastic smell in the air.

If It gets to bad where you are...head up my way and we can have a beer! (LOL)

Are you watching the press conference? I feel so much better now..No one was wearing a hazmat suit on TV. ha ha

And that EPA guy Nicholas Brescia (sp?)is an idiot. He kept saying...Well I just got here after lunch!!

I wish one of the reporters would have asked him what he had for lunch...maybe we could have gotten a straight answer about something.

So they have ground air monitors in place and are calling in the Aspect air sniffing craft from New Mexico. He said it would be here in 2 hours....Guess they are eating lunch too!

whatever
 Quoting: CowgirlK

yeah the news conference was a joke, they asked him what naptha was and he like "its for mixing chemicals" well no shit! here in mansfield i could see the cloud and plume off to the south be there is no smell in the air and everything seems ok so far,i think they about got it put out now, well i mean it burned itself out lol
Dozens of them. Armed to the teeth. I'm outnumbered. Outgunned. But the alley is crooked, dark, and very narrow. They can't surround me. Sometimes you can beat the odds with a careful choice of where to fight.

Not sure what they mean by "air quality is fine". Does that mean oxygen content? What exactly are they testing for? Just smoke - by itself is harmful and not good to breath. I think I'd take a road trip if I lived nearby - just evacuate for a while.

I just watched the local news too. EPA says ...Well there were some toxic chemicals in there but the air is fine and not a threat to pubic safety. OK...I'll buy that!!!

According to the EPA Risk Management Program Executive Summary

located at this link..

[link to data.rtknet.org]

(which I'm sure will be deleted soon)

It says..there are 48,630 pounds of Ammonia located at the plant. (No telling what else was in there)

Nothing to worry about here...EPA canceled the Doom...Move along...

i cant belive ppl evacuated are even thinking of returning hom,if i lived across the street from that i would never go home! so stupid, they also said there was no contamination of ground water, not that our ground water is wortha shit anyway cus of all the fracking but they would have to dig a 50' hole where the plant used to be to decontaminate that shit before it rains, but yeah no worries the EPA has it under controll and im sure president obama is monitering the situation

Remember when the EPA raised their "safe" radiation exposure levels after Fukushima when it was discovered that the radiation was flowing into the US? This is along the same lines. The EPA can't be trusted for one second.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

one thing that struck me as odd during this whole thing is you have a huge chem plant burning to the ground yet they were obsessed with a few train cars full of naptha, that they said was comparable to gasoline?this seems like bullshit to me,those cars blowing would have been a drop in the bucket compared to the entire event yet the news and officials were really worried about them,i wonder if something else was'nt on them that they are'nt telling us

My exact thoughts! What was the big deal about those train cars??

Also, there are quite a few lakes around there (if they are not dry) where I'm sure the city gets some of its drinking water from. Between the runoff and fallout...I would make sure I have lots of bottled/filtered water on hand.

Naptha is used as a thinner. Almost like coleman fuel. Highly flammable and explosive. It would have been a major blast...

President Obama's Dallas trip closed to most of the public

Most North Texas residents won't have the chance to see President Barack Obama during his trip Dallas.

On Tuesday Obama is scheduled to make a speech about his proposed American Jobs Act at Eastfield College in Mesquite. Tickets are required for the event. The free passes, however, were provided to Eastfield and are expected to be given to students and staff.

I guess they needed to get the drill in early today so everyone could get home to watch the Rangers game.
