yeah double up for sure, the cowboys are 3.5 point underdogs. that means they dont even have to win the game for you to win your bet. as long as they lose by 3 points or less, or win you will double up. can't you feel the 4k in your pocket all ready.

Give 10% to a charity of your choice. Take the rest, and divide it into 1/3rds. Invest 1/3 in guns, ammo, and SHTF preps. Invest 1/3 in gold or silver. Take the other 1/3, and treat your family.

Take it out of your pocket first.

Put it up until you have figured out the best place to allocate it to.

Buy an ounce of physical gold. That way is harder for you to spend it.

Add it to your emergency fund, or if it's fully funded with at least a years worth of expenses...then put it in the blow money fund...assuming you are debt free...if you have any debt then put it there...
 Quoting: BRIEF

I'd hate to give any additional money to the Banksters if I can help it. All I really owe on is the house and it's like 100G underwater.

If you invest while you still have debt, it's the same as borrowing money to invest with...it's not a good move...become debt free and then build wealth...
 Quoting: BRIEF

It's so underwater Brief that I've been considering returning the house to the bank. Although I would take a credit hit and tax hit at the end of the year, it would free up a lot of money from monthly expenses. I'm trying to hold onto it because it is land, but there's some bad memories here too that I'd also like to move on from. 1dunno1

Re: 2 Grand Burning A Hole In My Pocket.
Optimisticly siver could double in the next 3 to 6 months so it's not a big winner at 2000. I say gamble on a higher return. take 1200 and buy one million Iraqi dinar then take the other 800 and buy silver. If the dinar pops you have one hell of a home run and if not and silver doubles then you are practically were you started.
 Quoting: BULLY! BULLY!

Silver is not going to double in the short term. Stop feeding people BS. If any of the predictions on here were true the rocket would have blasted off "to da moon" by now and it simply hasn't happened.

Advising people to enter a silver position at these levels is irresponsible, bordering on reckless. Sure, if someone has a bunch that they got at much lower prices (I got mine @ around $20/oz all in) it's OK to add here, but if I had none today I would not buy in above $25.

OP. Just save the $2000 in a high-interest account in case of job loss or whatever. That's what I'd do, and I am well-invested in metals, index funds and relatively safe, boring dividend-paying stocks.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1283316

Good points about silver AC and I like your advice.

I'm not really a fan of gold though. I would buy silver if anything.

You see if I were going to start betting on sports, it would be baseball. Football has too many variables and the risks are too high for me. I haz baseball instincts but I'd still be too afraid to start doing something like that.

Re: 2 Grand Burning A Hole In My Pocket.
I would suggest you continue to consider all your options.

Some might be, ....

Liquid assets are crucial in case of a "get out of Dodge fast" scenario

Seed money to grow a business venture (and buying seeds might be a great idea)

Useful items for when and if your power goes out for more than a few days

The 1/3 plan. Save 1/3, Spend 1/3, give 1/3.

Water--ability to store, carry, clean and provide fresh drinking water no matter your situation.

It's nice to have options--as soon as you spend it your options are gone--something unexpected might make your decision clear in the next few days, weeks---

My gut goes with liquid--water or cash

of course the above is wrong if you have any debt
 Quoting: stillhere

Thanks stillhere for the great suggestions. As far as preps go I have enough to go 3-4 months for a few people. Have some 'prayer shot' seeds. Water storage containers. A few battery packs with solar generation that can handle a light load. With the banking situation ever changing though, and a housing market that has no sign of returning to where it was when I bought the house (2004 - awful timing), I'm just really aprehensive about giving away any extra financial security to the banks.

If I received $2000.00 and didn't need it for anything I would plan a nice little trip...I'd go to Maine and enjoy the fall colors and eat good food and drink good booze...but a trip somewhere would be a nice thing to do for yourself.

Loan me $500 until March. I'll spend it on a bed. Been sleepin on an air matress for months, and now it went flat and wont hold air... so, now I'm on the floor. I can't free up enough money to get a bed, no matter how hard I try. I'm sore all the time and can't get enough sleep. Makes me ill at work.

Anyways, I can return it in March with some interest!
