SH2 User ID: 197 United States 10/12/2005 09:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | HHHHHHHMMMMMM, I would say the pics lack a unique appearance. I have seen shots like these many times. Usually from tourists that just want to catch the spectacular image before them. I am a photographer myself. What I would tell you is to fluctuate times at a location. You would be suprised what mother nature can do to enhance a photo dramatically. Like being at a site when the sun first appears over the horizon. The first glimpse of light and the last of the day are the most enhancing to a photograph. Try it with some of the pics on your Blog. You will see the difference. You have an eye for nature, but put more of yourself into the shot. Use your imagination to make the objects pop out at the viewer. One of my other favorite tricks are different angles and height. You´ll be suprised by just laying close to the ground and shooting skyward, how a run of the mill picture turns into a work of art. Good Luck in you Future Endeavors with Photography I didn´t mean to discourage you by all means. I see you have a start in a great field. |

Not Really Human_ User ID: 31139 United States 10/12/2005 10:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ....your subject matter is of course, stunning...the photos came out very well...i´m not sure what camera you are using, but the only thing that would be of hinderance is the lens....and by that I mean the focal length....for example- A Cold Summer´s Day....18-24mm lens(35-mm equiv)to take in more of the surroundings will help you also in the composition to pull the viewer in...I say this Not as a critique but as a suggestion from someone who loves the art and wants to engage the viewer further....Good Luck! |

Baerwolfe (OP) User ID: 18399 United States 10/12/2005 11:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks Not Really...I was using a Minolta 35mm with 35-70 standard lens. Several others, however, are on the 300mm zoom. Again, I do not know too much on specifics of the technical (hence, very amateur), but I´m learning.... I will tell you though, I have been taking pics for business for years (mainly on digital), and the old-fashioned 35mm still beats the best of them (at least from the ones I´ve used). |

Not Really Human_ User ID: 31139 United States 10/12/2005 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | nothing will ever replace film....it still has 10x the resolution of digital and as hard as they try, they can´t match it....I used to shoot a lot...but now I appreciate more than ever....fav films are Reala 100, Velvia(pushed to 60, very warm...be careful where you use), Provia 100F( has the grain of a 50, very fine, and on the opposite end, Provia 800 pushed to 1600 (did you like Eyes Wide Shut?)...as far as B&W Ilford Pan F 50 & Delta 100...I shot for tones and through all the films I experimented with( all of them, I used to manage a camera store : ), these were the best, so take this as a warp drive to the next level....Experimentation will lead you to which to use in what situation.....and I must note Kodachrome (R.I.P), the best film ever made.... |
