TAX DODGERS EXPOSED! 280 of America’s most profitable companies: 78 of them paid no federal income tax / 30 enjoyed a negative income tax rate
FULL REPORT: [link to ctj.org]

The average effective tax rate for all 280 companies in the study over the three year period was 18.5 percent; for the period 2009-2010 it was 17.3 percent, less than half the statutory rate of 35 percent.

* 78 of the companies enjoyed at least one year in which their federal income tax was zero or less.

* 30 companies enjoyed a negative income tax rate over the entire three year period on their combined pre-tax profits of $160 billion.

* Total tax subsidies given to all 280 profitable corporations amounted to $222.7 billion from 2008-2010.

* Wells Fargo tops the list of 280 U.S. corporations receiving the most in tax subsidies, getting nearly $18 billion in tax breaks from the U.S. treasury in the last three years.

* Pepco Holdings had the lowest effective tax rate of all the companies in the study, at negative 57.6 percent over the three year period.

Some companies within sectors fare worse than others. For example, the report finds that FedEx paid a 0.9 percent tax rate over the three year period while its competitor, UPS, paid a 24.1 percent rate.

* While retailers and wholesalers in the study generally pay average effective tax rates of about 30 percent, Amazon.com paid a rate of only 7.9 percent on its $1.8 billion in profits from 2008-2010.

WOOO HOOO.

Good for them, they have realized their slavery and have started to refuse to pay for it. This is a great thing.

Damn all those companies finally standing up and leading a legit tax revolution, that is so brave of them.

We should all follow their example!

Just coincidentally, these are the same companies that gave huge amounts of payola to the Obama campaign.

Equally coincidentally, these same companies have all received Obama-care waivers.

This begs the question. Why are we still paying.

If your super rich you don't pay.
If you game the system and pop babies you get paid.

This system as it stands is broken. Those doing the work are getting screwed!

OWS is a joke...Wanna create jobs? Burn down these corporate headquarters so they have to pay to have them rebuilt. Then burn 'em down again...There are no repercussions for their actions, so why would they change a thing? Are they really supposed to be coerced by a bunch of gay hippies holding hands and singing with no demands or goals in the first place? Verizon makes over 12 billion, then makes more after being taxed..so I guess I'll go hold a sign and show my displeasure with the fact that they lie to my face everyday. Nothing will change until the American people decide to grow some balls and actually force change. Passive aggressive won't work on people that bomb entire towns and burn down their own buildings just because they can...

Corporations do NOT pay Taxes!!

The PEOPLE are the only ones that really pay Taxes!!

For businesses TAXES ARE MERELY A PASS THROUGH COST that goes into their product costing, just like electricity does, like employee salaries do, like raw materials costs do, etc. etc..

I wish people would get this ridiculous notion out of their heads that Corporations "PAY" taxes. All they do is take the tax expense and pass it onto the consumers of their products!! while maintaining industry standard (for that industry) Rates of Return (as determined by the stock and bond markets - ie: profits go up, stock price goes up so that the ROR remains the same)

SHEESH ... what a bunch of stupid people actually thinking the Corporations "PAY" taxes!! (no matter what the tax rate is)

This pails in comparison to the millions of American citizens that pay no taxes. These company's don't even put a dent in what the 'people' owe in taxes. It's funny how those are the people pointing the finger at big corporation while they collect their welfare checks.

They're leading a tax revolution!

WOOO HOOO.

Good for them, they have realized their slavery and have started to refuse to pay for it. This is a great thing.

Damn all those companies finally standing up and leading a legit tax revolution, that is so brave of them.

We should all follow their example!

FREEDOM!
